Abstract

This study aims to determine the success of female candidates in winning elections in Indonesian local politics. In Law No. 8 of 2012, there are rules and a requirement for political parties to nominate a minimum of 30% women from the total candidates, even though the implementation process has not shown the expected results. The research methodology used in this journal is a literature study, which reviews scientific articles, books, or other publications and analyzes and synthesizes research findings and ideas generated by researchers. Based on the 2019 DPRD elections, West Sumatra and East Java experienced an increase in the participation capacity of women in the DPR RI to 20.5%. The Surabaya City DPRD also has 30% female members. Meanwhile, the DPRD of Sukoharjo Regency only has 10 people or only 22.22%, when analyzed, the low representation of women is due to structural and cultural factors, such as patriarchal culture and money politics. Keywords: Gender; Women; Representativeness; Participation AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan kandidat perempuan dalam memenangkan pemilu di ranah politik lokal indonesia. Abstract

This research discusses racial discrimination experienced by indigenous Papuans from the perspective of human rights and multiculturalism. This discrimination occurs due to primordialism, ethnocentrism, stereotypers, and discriminatory attitudes that some people have towards the Papuans people. These misperceptions create a negative stigma that Papuans are unequal or less worthy than other groups. Discrimination is also exacerbated by treatment based on factors of race, ethnicity, culture, religion, skin color or physical characteristics that are considered different, as well as policies that do not favor indigenous Papuans. This research uses a transformative paradigm and a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, based on literature study by analyzing relevant literature. The results show that this discrimination has an impact on structural inequality, cultural, alienation, low access to rights for Papuans, and distrust of state institutions. In addition, ongoing racial discrimination also creates psychological distress and exacerbates the education and economic inequality of the Papuan community. To overcome this racial discrimination, multiculturalism and human rights based policies are essential to create justice and equality for indigenous Papuans.

Abstract

The emergence of the Draft Law on the Elimination of Sexual Violence or RUU PKS is like a breath of fresh air that brings a glimmer of hope that there is a legal umbrella that can protect victims of sexual violence in Indonesia. However, the birth of the RUU PKS has given rise to various responses from the community, some support it and some do not. In pushing for its ratification, activists have emerged who continue to fight for the RUU PKS, one of whom is Alissa Wahid. The purpose of this study is to examine how Alissa Wahid's influence as a female activist in fighting for the RUU PKS as legal protection for victims of sexual violence. The method used is qualitative with the use of literature studies that help research in answering the formulation of the problem well. The results show that through the movement and struggle, Alissa Wahid has opened the eyes of the government and the law in Indonesia to be more on the side of victims of sexual violence, especially women

Abstract

Women's representation in the executive power structure in Indonesia, especially in the 2024 Red and White Cabinet, shows the strong dominance of a patriarchal political system that does not provide equal space for women. Although Indonesia has implemented an affirmative policy in parliament in the form of a 30% quota for women, a similar policy has not been implemented at the executive level. As a result, the appointment of women in the cabinet is highly dependent on the political will of the president and is symbolic. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, which analyzes how the lack of legal regulations has a direct impact on the quantity and quality of women's representation. The findings show that women are often placed in non-strategic ministries, experience tokenism, and do not have strong legitimacy to influence policy. The absence of a legal umbrella makes women's representation volatile, unsustainable, and vulnerable to political change. In the context of gender justice, these conditions reflect structural inequalities that need to be addressed through institutional reform and affirmative legislation. This research recommends the need for strict and binding regulations to ensure that women are not merely present as a complement to power, but as actors who have a strategic and empowered position in the public decision-making process

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of youth social movements in Indonesia in the digital era through a case study of the #ReformasiDikorupsi movement. The research focuses on how social media reshapes mobilization patterns, expands political participation, and constructs a new, more inclusive democratic public sphere for young citizens. It also examines the role of digital strategies such as hashtag activism, infographics, emotional narratives, and decentralized communication in building solidarity, producing public discourse, and driving collective action both online and offline. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were gathered through literature review, document analysis, and observation of digital activity across various social media platforms. Data analysis employed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Theoretical frameworks such as Resource Mobilization Theory, Political Opportunity Structure, and the concept of connective action were applied to understand how youth actors utilize digital networks and political opportunities to shape contemporary social movements. The findings indicate that #ReformasiDikorupsi successfully broadened youth political engagement through rapid mobilization and multi-layered discourse production in digital spaces. Social media functioned as a deliberative arena where political narratives were produced, contested, and disseminated widely, fostering political literacy and collective awareness. However, the sustainability of the movement faced challenges, including disinformation, digital repression, limited long-term advocacy structures, and weak linkage to formal policy processes. Overall, this study demonstrates that digital politics has become a crucial arena in Indonesia’s democratic landscape, strengthening youth participation and shifting discourse production from political elites to civil society.
