Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the use of different shapes of individual compartment system (ICS) on the total haemocyte count (THC) and growth performances of sand lobster (Panulirus homarus). The research included container preparation, seed stocking, feed management, water quality monitoring, growth monitoring, pest and disease control, harvesting, and the examination of THC. The experimental units of the study were arranged using a completely randomized design (CRD). This study employed three treatments and three replications, i.e., tube ICS, triangular prism ICS, and cube ICS. The best values were found in the use of tube ICS compared to triangular prism ICS and cube ICS with a THC of 1.33 ± 0.12 x 106 cells ml-1, a survival rate of 83%, a feed conversion ratio of 9.63 ± 0.48, a weight growth of 51.83 ± 5.35 g individual-1, a length growth of 7.05 ± 0.09 cm individual-1, and a specific growth rate of 1.50 ± 0.07% day-1. The results of this study concluded that differences in ICS shapes affected the production performances and the stress level of the cultivated lobster.
