English language proficiency has become essential for those pursuing higher education in our fast-paced environment. A growing demand for jobs in the global workplace is coming from English speakers in particular. For many students, especially those who are non-native speakers of the language, public speaking in English presents a considerable difficulty. This research investigated the effects of an interactive video project on students' public speaking confidence in English. The middle and final exams for students were designed to include project-based learning in addition to classroom activities. In order to receive constructive comments from their lecturer and fellow students, students in this project had to produce and deliver videos on the prescribed themes. In this study, 20 students who had completed an interactive video project for class and the semester exam in Regular English at Universitas Pendidikan Nasional (Undiknas University) Denpasar, Bali, participated in a semi-structured interview and observation of the classroom during a descriptive qualitative approach. This study's conclusions showed that students' self-assessed confidence in their ability to give English public speeches or presentations can significantly increase as a result of the interactive video project. A process of iterative production, presentation, and feedback was combined with the interactive project. Students had an entertaining chance to hone and polish their speaking abilities with the interactive video project.

Rapid develpments in the field of communication and information technology have triggered new challenges among Generation Z (Gen Z). This study was motivated by the increasing use of smartphones, which has led to technological dependence and triggered the risk of nomophobia (no mobile phone phobia), as well as the need to find adaptive methods that are useful for Gen Z in managing their use of digital devices. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the concept of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) as a mitigation approach can help Gen Z students manage digital communication on smartphones so that they can avoid the risk of nomophobia. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, as well as data validity techniques through triangulation. This study involved eight Gen Z students in Denpasar who actively use smartphones, including for academic purpose, and two lecturers in the field of psychology. The results showed that the application of the SRL concept with three main phases: the forethought phase (planning), the performance phase (implementation), and the self-reflection phase (evaluation process), proved to be effective as mitigation strategy for nomophobia symptoms. Gen Z students who used SRL showed developments in self-control and the ability to manage digital distractions. In concluion, SRL proved to be a proactive internal mechanism that enables Gen Z to became disciplined and responsible users of digital technology.

This study examines the role of social media X in developing Gen Z's writing creativity through the phenomenon of the Alternate Universe (AU) as a form of digital literature in the era of literary digitalization. The research uses qualitative, data collection through observation, interviews, and document studies of AU writers and readers on social media X. The results of the study show that social media X functions as an interactive digital space that encourages writers to express ideas flexibly through thread, retweet, like, comments, and supporting visual media. Two-way interaction between writers and readers creates a participatory digital literary ecosystem, where readers provide feedback that enriches the creative process. In addition, the use of # (hashtag) and communities such as #AUrecommendation and Local AU Base makes it easier to promote and expand the reach of works. This research confirms that social media X is not only a place for distribution, but also a forum for learning and developing creativity as well as a digital literary community for Gen Z in facing the challenges of literacy culture in the modern era.

This study aims to analyze how Wardah's brand equity is built through a storytelling strategy implemented by Instagram content creator @ramondaudii. The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the content creator and ten active followers, and document studies. The main findings show that storytelling can utilize the creator's personal experiences, informative visual details and a narrative flow that is highly relevant to the audience's needs. This technique has proven successful in increasing consumer understanding of the benefits of Wardah products while establishing a stronger emotional connection with the brand. The narrative conveyed triggers a positive cognitive response in the audience. This response includes thoughts that support the message, increased brand awareness, better perceptions of product quality and a significant boost to purchasing decisions. This positive response contributes directly to strengthening the four main dimensions of Wardah's brand equity (awareness, brand associations, perceived quality, loyalty). Overall, this study concludes that storytelling is an appropriate communication strategy in expanding market reach and increasing Wardah's appeal, especially in the younger user segment or Generation Z who tend to respond better to narrative content that is considered authentic.

Beauty standards in Indonesia have become a complex social construction shaped by globalization, media expansion, and cultural dynamics. This study analyzes how representations of women and beauty standards are constructed in the “Beauty Standard” episode of Pancatera’s In Her View podcast using Sara Mills’ Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The podcast, hosted by five Indonesian women from diverse backgrounds, creates a multi-voiced discursive space that reflects personal experiences and social critique. Focusing on the subject–object position and writer–reader positioning, this research employs a qualitative descriptive design by analyzing episode transcripts, observations, and interviews with selected listeners. The findings show that the hosts position themselves as active subjects who challenge dominant beauty norms and encourage self-acceptance and critical awareness. The audience is positioned as an equal participant, invited to reflect and engage emotionally with the narrative. The discourse produced in the episode constructs a counter-hegemonic narrative that resists narrow beauty ideals by highlighting diversity, self-reflection, and empowerment. This study contributes to feminist discourse, media representation research, and podcast studies by demonstrating how digital conversational media reshape beauty narratives in the Indonesian context.

The globalization of K-Pop, or what is referred to as the hallyu wave, has become a forum to raise social issues, one of which is gender equality. South Korea is still experiencing gender equality issues, but artists in the music industry are actively opposing traditional gender norms. This research aims to elaborate the representation of masculinity shown by K-Pop artist Moonbyul through his style of clothing in the Music Video 'Eclipse' from the perspective of Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotics. With a qualitative descriptive approach, primary data in the form of visual and symbolic observations on the masculine style of dress depicted by Moonbyul in the Music Video 'Eclipse', supported by secondary data through interviews by informants with criteria that have been selected through purposive sampling techniques and also literature data. The results of the study show that Moonbyul uses traditional masculine clothing such as suits, boots, and camouflage equipment, which is contrary to the stigma of female idol dressing style in general which is light-colored and tight. Moonbyul fashion is seen as a sign that conveys a meaning of masculinity to women, which is analyzed through Ferdinand de Saussure's concept of semiotics that is signifier and signified. This indicates a shift in meaning regarding traditional gender stigma. This deconstruction is in line with the Sustainable Development goals by the United Nations, namely SDGs point 5 regarding gender equality.

This community service (Summer Social Work #4) activity aimed to improve students’ public speaking skills and self-confidence in using English at SMA Negeri 1 Ubud. The background of this activity was based on students’ low confidence in speaking English in public despite having formally studied English at school. The method employed in this program was practice-based training, implemented through interactive lectures, discussions, simulations, and direct public speaking practice in English. The activity was conducted in several sessions involving tenth- and eleventh-grade students. The results indicated improvements in students’ self-confidence, speaking courage, and ability to express ideas orally in English. The discussion of the findings suggests that a practice-based approach and a supportive learning environment played an important role in reducing students’ speaking anxiety. In addition, students’ active participation during the training strengthened their positive attitudes toward the use of English in academic contexts. These findings confirm that community service–based public speaking training can be an effective strategy to support English language learning at the secondary school level.
