Abstract

River normalization program is one of the ways to handle flood problems. However, not all communities accept this program. For that, we want to know the public perception towards normalization of Ciliwung River and analyze the variables that influence it. Perception data was obtained through survey with household approach in Bukit Duri Village which then analyzed by logistic regression. The results show that 28 percent of households around the river and 22 percent of households not around the river reject normalization. Household perceptions around the river are significantly influenced by sex, organizational participation, socialization, and per capita expenditure. The non-rivers are influenced by employment status, organizational participation, and socialization.

Abstract

Indonesia is ranked as the country with the highest number of young smokers in Southeast Asia. This situation is very worrying considering the negative impact of smoking can cause various health problems and even lead to death. West Nusa Tenggara Province has the highest percentage of children who smoke in Indonesia in 2021 at 2.28%. Data on children's smoking status is identified as unbalanced data because the ratio between children who smoke and do not smoke is very lame. Therefore, the binary logistic regression analysis method of the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique approach was applied to handle the problem. This study aims to determine an overview and identify variables that influence children's smoking behavior in West Nusa Tenggara in 2021 and their trends. The data used in this study are secondary data from the 2021 National Socio-Economic Survey with the unit analysis of children aged 5 to 17 years in West Nusa Tenggara in 2021. The results showed that gender, economic status, age, status of region of residence, education level of the head of household, and schooling status influenced children's smoking behavior in West Nusa Tenggara in 2021 with children who didnt attend school having the greatest tendency to smoke.

Abstract

This study examines job transition patterns among 868 tourism workers in Malang, Indonesia, a key tourism hub, using 2023 Fieldwork Training data from Politeknik Statistika STIS. It aims to model transitions while addressing the high number of workers with no job changes using a Zero-Inflated Poisson (ZIP) model, which better captures these patterns than standard models. The ZIP model, including sex, age, relationship to the head of household, education, and foreign language proficiency, shows that proficient workers are more likely to remain in stable roles, while men and younger workers exhibit greater mobility, particularly when leveraging language skills. These findings support Indonesia’s Sertifikasi Kompetensi SDM Pariwisata program by justifying targeted interventions: language training to enhance mobility for non-proficient workers, mentorship for female tour guides to address gender disparities, and digital skills programs for older workers to boost employability. These strategies align with government efforts to strengthen Malang’s tourism workforce resilience.
