Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Patients with chronic kidney failure say that they are anxious because they see the tubes flowing blood, costs that must be incurred each time undergoing therapy, anxiety because invasive procedures will be carried out, and uncertainty about recovery. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the Spiritual Mindfulness Based On Breathing Exercise on the anxiety of patients on Hemodialysis. Methods: The research design uses a quasi-experiment with a pre and posts group design control. The population of all chronic kidney failure patients at A. Yani Surabaya Islamic Hospital is 70 people. The sample size is 32 respondents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The intervention group was given Spiritual Mindfulness Based On Breathing Exercises and the control group was given intervention according to hospital standards. Analysis used the Wilcoxon with a significant value of ?? < 0.05. Results: the anxiety level p-value of 0.000 in the intervention group and the control group p-value of 0.109 which means there is an effect of Spiritual Mindfulness Based On Breathing Exercises on patient anxiety on Hemodialysis. Conclusion: Spiritual Mindfulness Based On Breathing Exercise is effective in reducing anxiety in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis and the technique is easy to perform.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic ulcers are chronic complications of diabetes mellitus that can lead to infection and gangrene if not properly treated. Complementary therapies can help prevent diabetic ulcers by improving blood circulation and maintaining vasodilation. Preventive measures include massage, foot massage, and the application of warm blankets to support smooth blood flow.   Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a combination of massage, foot massage, and warm blankets on changes in the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) as a marker of diabetic ulcer risk. Method: The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. A total of 30 respondents were selected using total sampling, with inclusion criteria being female diabetes mellitus patients diagnosed for more than a year, aged over 30 years, and free from leg ulcers. Pre-test ABI measurements were conducted on the second day of week 1. The intervention involved a 30-minute combination of massage, foot massage, and warm blankets, administered twice a week over three weeks. Post-test ABI data were collected at the sixth meeting in the third week.   Results: Before the intervention, the average ABI of respondents was 0.57, indicating a moderate risk. Following the intervention, the ABI improved to an average of 0.74, categorized as mild risk. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant effect (p < 0.05) of the intervention on ABI changes. Conclusion: In conclusion, the combination of massage, foot massage, and warm blankets is an effective complementary therapy for maintaining foot health in diabetes mellitus patients, thereby reducing the risk of diabetic ulcers.

Abstract

Background:  Patients with chronic kidney failure experience various changes in their lives, starting from their diet, exercise, blood sugar control, urea, creatinine and renal function replacement therapy that must be carried out throughout their lives, causing long stress for the patient. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Spiritual Benson Relaxation on reducing stress in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods: This research design uses quasi-experimental approach with a pre and post control group design. The population of all patients with chronic kidney failure who underwent dialysis in the Hemodialysis unit of the Surabaya Islamic Hospital A. Yani was 70 people. The sample size is 32 respondents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The intervention group was given Spiritual Benson Relaxation and the control group were given intervention according to hospital standards. The analysis used the  Wilcoxon with a significant value of . < 0.05. Results: The results showed that the stress level p value 0.001 in the intervention group and the control group p value 0.035 which means that there is an effect of Spiritual Benson Relaxation on reducing stress in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: Spiritual Benson Relaxation is effective in reducing stress in patients undergoing hemodialysis and the technique is easy to do.
