Abstract

Background Riskesdas 2018 state that the largest proportion of dental problems in Indonesia are damaged/cavities/sick teeth (45.3%). Dental and oral health problems in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province 75.08%, age group 35-44 years 72.86% with DMF-T index higher in women (69.43%) than men (30.57%) ). Community understanding of dental and oral diseases is still low, including housewives with high level of knowledge (9.10%), medium (43.63%), low (47.27%). This can be overcome with a system to detect dental and oral disease so that it is not more severe and early treatment before going to dentist. Objective prove the feasibility test and effectiveness of "Oral Detect-Tri" application in increasing behavior of detecting dental and oral diseases in housewives. Method used Research and Development with Quasy experimental research, Pretest-Posttest group design. Subjects in this study were housewives in Paccinongang Village, Gowa Regency, intervention group and housewives at the Posyandu Health Center Tamangapa for the control group; Intervention 30 people were given the "Oral Detect-Tri" Application and Control 30 people were given counseling by cadres. Data collection techniques in this study were interviews, questionnaires and observation. Data tested using  pearson correlation test for validation test then Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney for effectiveness test. Results of the application "Oral Detect-Tri" are feasible as a media for dental health education with expert validation results of 80% and a p-value of 0.002, and the results of the delta test stated that its application was effective in increasing intervention knowledge (3.83) control (0.166), intervention attitude (9.7) control (0.3), intervention measures (3.2) control (0.23) Conclusion Application of “Oral Detect-Tri” application is feasible and effective in changing the behavior of housewives in detecting dental and oral diseases.

Abstract

Background: The profession of dental and oral therapist (TGM) has a high risk of disease transmission, so it is important to prevent cross-infection in dental extraction services because they come into direct contact with the patient's body fluids. The description of TGM behavior in Maros Regency in preventing cross infection is not optimal, 50% do not carry out SOPs properly, 63% do not maintain hand hygiene, 50% do not change handscoons and sterile masks every time they change patients. Efforts are needed to increase cross-infection prevention behavior with the "Fidz-ABCT" Model as an educational model based on learning by doing training with the aim of improving TGM behavior in preventing cross-infection during tooth extraction procedures in community health centers. Objective: To prove the effectiveness of implementing the "Fidz-ABCT" educational model in improving TGM behavior towards preventing cross infection during tooth extraction procedures at community health centers. Method: Research and Development research design Quasy Experiment Pre-test and Post-test Control Group Design. The research subjects were TGM, 14 intervention people were given the "Fidz-ABCT" model, 14 control people were given counseling on the PPI guidebook at the community health center. Data collection techniques were interviews, questionnaires, and measuring the number of bacteria on dental extraction tools. Data were processed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test. Results: The "Fidz-ABCT" model is suitable for use in improving TGM behavior in preventing cross-infection during tooth extraction procedures at health centers, expert validation results are 85% and p-value 0.013 (p<0.05). The results of the delta test stated that its implementation was effective in increasing knowledge of intervention (?=5.57) control (?=1.50), attitude of intervention (?=14.21) control (?=5.07), intervention action (?=7, 42) control (?=1.64), effective in reducing the number of bacteria on dental extraction tools (p-value 0.012). Conclusion: The application of the "Fidz-ABCT" educational model is feasible and effective in increasing TGM behavior in preventing cross-infection during tooth extraction procedures at community health centers.

Abstract

Background: One of the dental and oral health problems experienced by Indonesian society is malocclusion with a prevalence of 80%. The role of the Dental and Oral Therapist (TGM) in orthodontic treatment who collaborates with specialist dentists to correct malocclusion so that it functions well is not yet fully effective because the TGM only implements/chair side assistants in the fourth stage when the TGM should carry out all stages of dental and oral health care . So it is necessary to develop dental and oral health maintenance in specialist orthodontic services. Objective: To produce and analyze the effectiveness of implementing dental and oral health care in specialist orthodontic dentistry services. Research Method: The research method used is Research and Development and Quasy experimental research design Pretest-Posttest group design. The research respondents were TGM at the Muhammadiyah University Semarang dental and oral hospital, TGM intervention 10 people were given model training and controls were given care from Permenkes No.284 of 2006. Data collection techniques in this research were interviews, questionnaires and observation. Validation of expert data was tested using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) while the model test was processed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: Development of dental and oral health care in specialist orthodontic dentistry services that are relevant as dental and oral health care with expert validation results of 80% and p-value 0.002. The test results stated that the implementation of effective parenting increased TGM knowledge with a p-value of 0.005, TGM attitudes with a p-value of 0.004, and TGM skills with a p-value of 0.004. Conclusion: The application of dental and oral health care in specialist orthodontic services is effective in increasing TGM behavior
