Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the interest rate channel in the mechanism of monetary policy in Indonesia. The variables used are policy rates (rSBK) as monetary policy tool, deposit rates (rDeposito), and credit rates (rKredit) as transmission to the real sector and CPI as a proxy of inflation which is the target of monetary policy. The VECM method is used since the variables are cointegrated but are stationary in the first difference. The results impulse response operational targets respond weakly to changes in monetary policy variables because they require a deadline of 5 periods to be able to influence the CPI. While the result of variance decomposition showed the low strength of the rDeposito variable which only reached 1.84 percent, rCredit was only 0,54 in response to the shock of the rSBL. Thus, the effect on CPI is only 1,03 percent. It can be concluded based on this research, the effectiveness of monetary policy which only relies on the policy interest rate channel is less effective in the transmission mechanism of monetary policy in Indonesia for the periode 2009-2018 to impact the inflation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the relationship between economic growth and the shadow economy through the transmission of labor conditions as well as to know the effect of the shadow economy on tax revenue in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method to find out the issue. The results of this study show that the development of the shadow economy and economic growth in Indonesia in the 2000-2015 period tends to fluctuate and the relationship between economic growth and the shadow economy is not always negative. However, in the last 16 years, the shadow economy's percentage of GDP has decreased. Meanwhile, the connection between the shadow economy and tax revenue in Indonesia, namely the simplification of the bureaucracy in starting a business in Indonesia, is expected to have a greater impact on reducing shadow economy growth. To slow down the shadow economy growth caused by bureaucracy, the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) needs to take tactical steps by making improvements and innovating tax services, from online registration of NPWP to launching a single login with innovation allowing taxpayers to access various tax services at one-time log-in, and cooperation in exchanging information to minimize the presence of asymmetrical information between the DGT and taxpayers, accompanied by tax incentives for taxpayers who wish to share information.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of the minimum wage, employment structure, and income inequality in Indonesia. The research method used is qualitative and sourced from secondary data obtained from BPS, laws, and regulations, policy briefs related to minimum wages and income gaps as well as the results of previous research. The results of this study in the form of a minimum wage will be effective if the structure of the workforce in a country is more dominant in working in the formal sector. In addition, the minimum wage that increases every year can reflect inflation due to rising prices of goods, causing real wages to tend to decline. In addition, the determination of minimum wages in each Province and Regency/City is still too simple because it has not taken into account the differences in regions, sectors, and types of businesses that exist in each region. The absence of detailed data related to economic and sociocultural data has caused the minimum wage setting policies implemented to date have not been able to reduce income inequality in Indonesia. Improvements in worker productivity must begin through improving worker education and skills.
