Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of women bamboo weavers in maintaining the sustainability of family finance and local products of Sidetapa, an old village of Buleleng District, North Bali. Data collected through observation and interviews and analyzed by employing a critical qualitative method using a cultural studies approach. The study revealed that the majority of bamboo craftsmen in Sidetapa Village were women who played their traditional and transitional roles well. Through their work as bamboo weavers, women have been enabling themselves to generate income to help the needs of their family. In maintaining the existence of bamboo-based local products of Sidetapa Village, the women weavers always try to be adaptive to market demand. They also actively engage in training programs provided by external parties with the aim of knowing market developments and improving product quality. The article contributes to our understanding of the double roles of women in handling domestic work and getting income to support domestic needs.

Abstract

The presence of jewelry casting machines in Celuk Village, Gianyar, Bali has caused a struggle among craftsmen in fighting for their business and production interests. This study aims to uncover and analyze the struggle practices. Data collection is done through interviews, observations and document studies. Data were analyzed with practical theory, deconstruction, mechanical reproduction and other supporting theories used eclectically. The results showed that the struggle was carried out in various ways depend on the capital they owned. All parties build images as an effort to maintain their existence. Various kinds of displays, product certificates, and discourse are played as media in struggling for their respective interests to win the market competitions. The struggle of jewelers craftsmen in Celuk gives birth to various forms of power relations, there are those who rule and are controlled. Power in jewelry is largely determined by space, time, and the amount of capital ownership.

Abstract

The tourism sector plays an important role in the economic and developmental activities of Beraban Village. The most significant income is from the Tanah Lot tourist attraction. Tourism development in Beraban Village has generated both beneficial and adverse effects on the local community. Accordingly, this study examines how tourism growth influences the economic, sociocultural, and environmental dimensions of community life in Beraban Village. A qualitative research approach was adopted, utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, document analysis, and focus group discussions involving stakeholders from multiple sectors. The collected data were subjected to thematic analysis to explore the implications of tourism development within rural communities. The findings demonstrate that tourism development has substantially influenced the economic, sociocultural, and environmental conditions of the local community. In Beraban Village, four major benefits have been identified: greater access to education, improvements in health and well-being, increased economic opportunities, and the strengthening of social and cultural development. From an economic perspective, tourism has contributed to improving the livelihoods of previously less-prosperous households, enabling them to achieve more stable and better living conditions. From a sociocultural perspective, the development of tourism has generated additional economic benefits for Traditional Villages through the allocation of revenue derived from Tanah Lot. The sector also provides employment opportunities for local residents, while increasing community awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness and sustainability. Nevertheless, tourism development has also produced several adverse consequences. The substantial influx of migrants seeking employment and economic opportunities in Bali may contribute to social problems, including crime and the misuse of drugs and alcohol among younger generations. In addition, the increasing volume of tourism-related waste remains a challenge that has not been managed optimally. The expansion of tourism activities has also contributed to changes in agricultural land use. Academically, this study contributes to a broader understanding of tourism development and its multidimensional impacts on local communities. Practically, the findings are expected to provide useful insights for Beraban Village in managing tourism development, strengthening tourism village initiatives, and supporting the emergence of new and sustainable tourism programs.

Abstract

Increasing employee job satisfaction has a positive impact on company productivity and performance. PT PLN (Persero) Transmission, a leading company in the energy sector, pays special attention to the factors that influence employee job satisfaction, especially motivation, work environment and competence. This research aims to analyze the influence of motivation, work environment, and competence on employee job satisfaction at PT PLN (Persero) Bali Transmission implementation unit. The population the researchers used was all permanent PT PLN (Persero) Bali Transmission Implementation Unit employees. The population in this study was 142 people who met the criteria as permanent employees of the Company, and by using the census method in selecting the sample, the research sample also numbered 142 people. Multiple linear regression analysis is applied to describe the influence of the independent variable on the dependent variable with the help of SPSS. The results of this research show that motivation, work environment, and work competence positively affect employee job satisfaction at PT PLN (Persero) Bali Transmission Implementation Unit. This means that the better the motivation, work environment and work competence simultaneously, the more job satisfaction at PT PLN Transmisi Bali will increase. This research provides implications for companies regarding employee job satisfaction and things that must be paid attention to and improved to maximize employee job satisfaction.
