Abstract

Good asphalt derives from asphaltic base crude dil, but unfortmately such material is not much, asphalt from residual crude oil containing the mixture of asphaltic and parafine base is possibly used. Parafin changes easily in low different temperature. Therefore, the presence of parafin in asphalt will disturb the performance of asphalt mixture and predicted to be the reason of pvement deformation. To determine the effect of wax on asphalt rheology and mix proferties, 1-5% of solid and liquid wax can be used in asphalt. Asphalt quality and asphalt mixture can be done using Marshall test, dynamic stability by wheel tracking machine and resilient moduli by UMATTA. Research showed that wax decreased the properties of asphalt rheology in softening point differences penetration index, steffness moduli adhesion of asphalt to aggregates wax also decreased asphalt mix performance either by marshall test, dynamic stability and resilient moduli The effect of 4 % ot solid wax on asphalt in safe category, 2% of parafin influenced the adhesion of asphalt to aggreagates, the safe limit for liquid wax is 2 % it is suggested that the limit of parafin consent is 2% so that early pavement damage will not eusily happen.

Abstract

The life of asphalt in pavement dependson asphalt resistence used gainst aging during heating and mixing in asphalt plant and service impacted by weather, sun shine, oxidation and asphalt layer thichness. Asphalt aging occurs during heating and mixing is category zed as shout term aging, and the second to pavement service lipe. The article present the result of short term asphalt aging laboratoryresearch with specimen thickness of 3,4,7.5,9,10.5 and 12 µ using RTFO (Rolling thin Film Oven) describing asphalt aging and hardening after asphalt taken out of asphalt mixing plant. Far long term aging, pressure, aging vessel (PAV) was used to take simulation test. This method can be applied to predict asphalt life in pavement (asphalt resistance against hearing and oxidation) Result from research can be used to predict of asphalt life in pavement using the following mathematical model : ([(Pen Pav-20) + 1] x 5 years)/((Pen RTFO-Pen PAV)) Based on aging test using Pressure Aging Vessel, 5 years of asphalt life in pavement can determine the pavement life in given asphalt layer thickness in aggre gate or asphalt layer thickness in aggregate can be calculated.

Abstract

Faktor - faktor yang mempengaruhi pada perkerasan jalan terutama adanya kelelahan mekanis (mecanical fatique), akan tetapi penurunan kwalitas juga menyebabkan kerusakan konstruksi. Sebagaimana diketahui bahwa kondisi dengan sinar matahari juga merupakan faktor penting dalam hal hardening, apalagi kondisi di Indonesia yang hampir sepanjang tahun terus menerus kena sinar matahari. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada hubungan antara sifat kimia aspal dengan keawetan/pelapukan serta performace perkerasan jalan.

Abstract

Hal - hal yang perlu diperatikan pada penggunaan bahan peremaja baik pada pekerjaAn daur ulang maupun asbuton untuk konstruksi perkerasan jalan adalah menggunakan bahan peremaja yang memenuhi persyaratan serta mampu meningkatkan mutu keawetan menurunkan nilai paremeter malten aspal/asbuton yang telah mengalami pelapukan, sehingga aspal asbuton yang telah ditambah bahan peremaja akan mempunyai mutu mendekati mutu semula.

Abstract

Aspal emulsi adalah aspal yang didisprestasikan kedalam air dengan bantuan emulgator, tergatung jenis dari emulgatornya, aspal emulsi dapat dibagi menurut jenis muatannya, yaitu kationik dan antionik, sedangkan dari jumlah ( kadar ) elmugatornya aspal emusi dapat klasifikasikan menjadi 3 jenis, yaitu: sedang, cepat, dan lambat mengendap( setting ).
