Abstract

Mathematical problem solving skill is one of the objective of mathematics learning that is expected to be possessed by students. Practically, in SMA N 7 Padang, it shows that the competance of learners is not optimal. This conlusion is led from observation and interviews to math teachers. It is caused by the applied learning process does not fully facilitate learners to improve their skill. Therefore, new model of learning activity is required. One of the applicative model is problem based learning. The Objective of this experiment is to asses the ability of learners on mathematical problem solving whose utilizing problem based learning model and compare it with learners whose studying conventional learning program in class XI MIA SMA N 7 Padang school year of 2017/2018. Based on data analysis, it shows that mathematical problem solving ability of the learners by implementing problem based learning model is better than students implimanting conventional learning program in class XI MIA SMA N 7 Padang school year of 2017/2018.
