Abstract

This paper discusses the implementation of the MBKM (Community Development through Student Community Service) program in Sirnajaya Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The program focuses on raising awareness among the local community about responsible tourism practices and creating a trekking interpretive trail. The concept of "Desa Wisata" (Village Tourism) is emphasized, which involves active participation from the local community and utilizes local resources and wisdom to enhance the village's economy and well-being. The uniqueness of Sirnajaya Village, with its pristine natural beauty and limited mass tourism, is considered an attractive factor. The growing interest in nature-based tourism, especially in the context of the new normal and the preference for activities such as trekking, further supports the development of trekking tourism in the village. The importance of interpretive trails in connecting visitors with the natural resources is emphasized, as it enhances visitors' experiences and promotes conservation. The program involves the participation of D4 Tourism students from Jakarta State University and the local community, utilizing the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach. The preparation phase includes site selection, task assignment, and field visits. Benchmark analysis is conducted by studying similar programs, with the Sentul area as a reference. The final phase focuses on socializing and developing the trekking interpretive trail through workshops, lectures, and expert discussions. The program aims to make Sirnajaya Village a sustainable tourism destination, benefiting both the local community and tourists.

Abstract

This research explores how agritourism development in Gunungsari Tourism Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency can support environmental conservation efforts while highlighting the active role of the local community and the challenges they face. Located in hilly terrain with cool air and fertile agricultural land, Gunungsari Village offers various agricultural commodities such as vegetables, fruits, and attractive natural tourism potential. The community still maintains traditional farming systems and local wisdom in managing their land, creating opportunities to integrate agritourism concepts with environmental conservation approaches. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, literature studies, identification of agritourism potential, and direct interviews with local communities and village tourism managers, this research aims to contribute to formulating an environmentally friendly tourism village development model based on local potential. The findings can serve as a reference for other tourism villages in Indonesia seeking to balance economic growth with environmental preservation through sustainable tourism practices.

Abstract

Incentive travel is a key segment in MICE that aims to motivate employees. Although Indonesia is a leading MICE destination, the competitiveness of Jakarta has not been optimized as an incentive travel destination. This study identifies Harapan Island in the Thousand Islands as Jakarta's leading potential for incentive travel, offering unique maritime and conservation experiences. However, there is a significant gap between this potential and the current unstructured and uncompetitive tourism products, which fail to meet corporate expectations. Using quantitative associative methods, this study analyzes the influence of internal factors (accommodation, cuisine) and external factors (accessibility, local support) on destination competitiveness. Data from 50 respondents, mostly tourism workers and corporate employees, was collected through a reliable questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha >0.90) and found to have a normal distribution. The findings confirm the strong potential of Harapan Island, but highlight critical weaknesses in supporting facilities and product packaging. This study concludes that community-based strategic development for premium products is essential to transform Harapan Island into a competitive and sustainable incentive travel destination, thereby supporting the vision of “Jakarta Nice for MICE.”
