Abstract

Interdisciplinary research is becoming a major focus in academic science and policy. Islamic Studies has adopted this approach, especially in addressing social issues such as gender, environment, and pluralism. Although controversial, interdisciplinary research in Islamic studies is considered essential for understanding the complexity of life and solving the problems of this age. This research is a literature study that describes the dynamics of the interdisciplinary approach in Islamic studies, including its obstacles and projections. Descriptive analysis is used to get the right and appropriate results to answer the existing problem formulations. Data collection is carried out systematically and structured by using literature and data relevant to the topic of the interdisciplinary approach in Islamic studies with the dialog of the concept of challenges and prospects. In Islamic studies, the interdisciplinary approach has received attention due to the complexity of religious phenomena. However, cognitive barriers arise from epistemological differences and difficulties integrating concepts, while intellectualism barriers are related to methodological conflicts, personal disagreements, and language factors. Awareness and collaborative efforts are needed to overcome these barriers in developing interdisciplinary research in Islamic studies. Interdisciplinary approach in Islamic studies is increasingly relevant in the face of the complexity of contemporary issues. It is important to maintain consistency with Islamic principles and understand the religion from various perspectives. Although there are pros and cons to this approach, interdisciplinary research can overcome cognitive barriers and intellectualism. Awareness and support for interdisciplinary cooperation is key to advancing this research.

Abstract

Young marriages have been massively practiced by young people in Indonesia. The rise of young marriage is a phenomenon in contemporary marital issues in Indonesia. The interest of young people to get married is a discussion that involves many new instruments to build a sakinah family in the household. This research will discuss young marriages conducted by men and women in the age range of 19-24 years when they get married. The data collection method uses a research questionnaire of 36 respondents (18 men and 18 women) collected randomly (random sampling). To test the respondents’ understanding in this study, the questionnaires were analyzed using a Guttman scale approach to interpret the extent of respondents’ understanding of the concept of a sakinah family. This study argues that the impetus for young marriage is due to the respondents’ religion and social arena. It can be explained that the consideration to marry at a young age is determined by these 2 instruments and is in line with the regulations set by the state. The 36 respondents were also measured for their level of understanding of the concept of a sakinah family. As a result, most of the 36 respondents in young marriages have fulfilled the personal competence, managerial competence, and competence to overcome discrimination as described in the concept of a sakinah family.

Abstract

One of the Minangkabau cultural products that contains Islamic counseling values is the advice book Siti Budiman by Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli. The book describes the educational process in a family environment that seeks to instill good morals by parents to children. This discussion is increasingly important to explore, given the high level of juvenile delinquency in Minangkabau or West Sumatra, which is an administrative area in Indonesia. This article will comprehensively analyze the biography of Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli. As well as, the purpose, objectives, elements, principles, and values of Islamic counseling. The results of this study found ideas in the form of advice written by Sulaiman Ar-Rasuli related to the affirmation of faith and ideal Islamic law in Minangkabau.

Abstract

Karya Syekh Sulaiman Arrasuli, “Pedoman Hidup di Alam Minangkabau Menurut Garisan Adat dan Syara’ (Nasihat Siti Budiman)”, menawarkan integrasi yang memadukan prinsipprinsip adat Minangkabau dengan ajaran Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana integrasi antara adat dan agama dalam karya tersebut dapat memberikan solusi bagi masyarakat Minangkabau dalam menghadapi tantangan modernisasi dan globalisasi. Melalui analisis karakter dan nasihat yang terdapat dalam buku ini, terlihat Syekh Sulaiman menggunakan pendekatan yang menggabungkan berbagai disiplin ilmu untuk membentuk panduan yang relevan dan komprehensif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai yang diajarkan dalam buku ini, seperti keseimbangan antara adat dan syara’, pendidikan karakter, pemberdayaan perempuan, etika sosial, dan kepemimpinan, tetap relevan dalam konteks kekinian. Pendekatan interdisipliner yang diterapkan menawarkan kerangka kerja yang bermanfaat untuk mempertahankan identitas budaya dan agama di tengah arus perubahan zaman, serta dapat diterapkan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan masyarakat saat ini. [ The work of Syekh Sulaiman Arrasuli, “Pedoman Hidup di Alam Minangkabau Menurut Garisan Adat dan Syara’ (Nasihat Siti Budiman)”, offered an integration that combined the principles of Minangkabau customs with Islamic doctrines. This study aimed to analyze the integration of customs and religion in this work provided solutions for the Minangkabau community in facing the challenges of modernization and globalization. Through the analysis of characters and advice found in the book, it was evident that Syekh Sulaiman employed an approach that combined various disciplines to form a relevant and comprehensive guide. The analysis results showed that the values taught in this book, such as the balance between customs and religion, character education, women’s empowerment, social ethics, and leadership, remained relevant in the contemporary context. The interdisciplinary approach applied offered a useful framework for preserving cultural and religious identity amidst the currents of change and could be implemented in various aspects of community life.]
