Abstract

This research is focused in learning reading by using Neurological Impress Method (NIM) at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar in the academic year 2019/2020. This study use pre-test, treatment, and post-test. By this research, it is hopes that it can be useful to improve reading ability with using Neurological Impress Method (NIM). The writer took 32 students in VIII-1 SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar as the sample of the research. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test, the pre-test was given of the students in VIII-1 before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. To analyze the data and answer the problem, the writer used the theory from Arikunto Suharsimi. The data collection instrument is a multiple choice consisting of 10 items, and how to analyze it by following the correct answer based on the text and form each question the value 1. This research is focused on learning to read by using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar in 2019/2020. This research uses pre-test, treatment, and post-test. With this research, it is expected to be useful to improve reading skills by using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM). The writer took 32 students in VIII-1 SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan as a research sample. Data were obtained using pre-test and post-test, pre-test was given to students in VIII-1 before treatment and post-test was given after treatment. To analyze data and answer problems, the authors use the theory of Arikunto Suharsimi. The data collection instrument was a multiple choice consisting of 10 items, and how to analyze it by following the correct answers based on the text and forming each question with a value of 1. From the results of the pre-test, an increase in students' abilities can be seen from the percentage of 71.87% and increased to 100% in the pot test, the mean score of the pre-test was 5.75 and increased to 8.75 in the post-test, standard deviation pre-test and post-test 1.75. From the results of data analysis the writer found that the facts using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) students were better than before using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM), the results of the pre-test and post-test were significant influences in the use of the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) in the ability reading students in narrative text

Abstract

Learning a language is influenced by a variety of factors. Learning English is important to children that will help them in achieving their full potential in the future. If they have the right techniques, they can learn English quickly and effectively. Applying a good technique is important that they have to learn English which is by practicing and using the language fluently. Learning must not be stressful for the children. The process should be simulating with a interesting technique by the teacher. So, their studies should make reading, listening, and speaking in English practice naturally. As a confidence to develops, the children can learn more and speak English improve their English. This paper will discusses about the way to teach the young learners in Pematang Siantar. These are purposed for children to be able to learn English effectively with the fun situation and variety program that children need in practicing a language. At the last, this paper discuss about how to guarantee the children learning English by using a simple techniques that can absolutely make the teachers’ responsibility in teaching more fun and satisfying in the result of student, and the teaching process will be expected that the teachers will have an idea to be the most inspiring teachers that possibly can applying in teaching and learning process

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the implementation of Wholesome Scattering Game in improving the students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The population of this research was all of the eighth grade students of SMP N 3 Pematangsiantar, which consisted 312 students as the population and 31 as the sample. This research was conducted by Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The finding of this research is the researcher got good result from activities of teaching descriptive text using Wholesome Scattering Game technique. The quantitative data was taken from the tests, which were pre-test and post-test in first cycle and post-test II in second cycle. The improvement is the mean of the pre-test is 57,61 in first cycle. But it increase to be 74,19 in the post-test. And researcher found that the mean score of students increased up to be 80.67 in post-test II in second cycle. Difference calculation of the mean in cycle I is 16.58; and the standard deviation is 5.2. Beside that the standard error for the mean difference is 0.95. And researcher found that the t-test of this research was 17.45, with the effect size of the test was 3.18. From the explanation previous shows that by applying Wholesome Scattering Game technique can improve their writing ability. The difference calculation in the second cycle (post-test I and post-test II), the mean was 6.48, and standard deviation was 2.33. Besides that, the standard error for the mean difference was 0.42, and t-test was 15.42. To improve that the Wholesome Scattering Game was very significant to improve students’ writing skills especially in descriptive text, researcher give the result of the effect size, namely was 2.78. Based on the explanation above, the researcher concludes that wholesome scattering game is effective to be used in teaching writing descriptive text which could interesting and useful to increase students' writing ability and students will not bored and passive in the class because they learn while interact with wholesome scattering game

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the students’ Errors in Pronunciation the English Consonants at class XI grade of SMA Swasta Erlangga Pematangsiantar. This research was conducted at SMA Swasta Erlangga Pematangsiantar. The researcher used qualitative approach with content analysis method. Then, population in this research is the eleventh grade students of SMA Swasta Pematangsiantar that consisted of 2 classrooms which consists of 30 students. The result of this research was the researcher’s found the students’ Errors in Pronunciation of the English consonants namely: The english consonants /d/, /t∫/, /j/, /t/, /s/, /ƞ/, /l/, and /r/. The English consonants errors /d/ is 60 (15,38%), /t∫/ is 50 (12,82%), /j/ is 52 (13,33%), /t/ is 92 (23,58%), /s/ is 47 (12,05%), /ƞ/ is 45 (11,53%), /l/ is 39 (10%), and /r/ is 5 (1,28%). Based on the data analysis that the dominant errors in pronunciation the English consonants is /t/ 92 (23,58%), it could be happen because the students did not read seriously, they have little desire to learn English, they don’t have confidence, they get bored easily, and the students are afraid to be wrong
