Abstract

The Christian faith offers paradoxes, such as the concepts of Providence and human suffering. Providence is the belief in God's providence as a certainty of faith. However, humans could challenge God's providence because they suffer and even die. This situation puts humans in a dilemma. This article aims to contribute to academic and Christian faith discourse to understand human suffering (death) and God's work in human suffering. Through a study of literature and theological traditions, it was found that the discussion of providence cannot be separated from God's role or work in world history. God works to bring goodness to all His creations. Providence and the experience of suffering seem paradoxical. At the same time, we understand that God cares for us, but at the same time, we cannot deny existential problems, such as death. Death and suffering are realities of life that occur in God's care for His creation.

Abstract

This paper is a contextual interpretation of John Locke's thoughts on political philosophy (democracy), which holds that a democratic climate will function well if it includes attention to human rights, upholding the freedom of every person, and the right to own property. These three elements represent concrete manifestations of a good democratic climate. The author will then use this perspective to interpret the constellation of democracy in Indonesia, with its various ongoing struggles. A good democratic climate will, in fact, support the prospects of Indonesia's demographic bonus. If not addressed, the democratic system, with its various problems, could pose a challenge in responding to the demographic bonus, especially the Dream of a Golden Indonesia 2045. Using a literature study method, we will examine Locke's political philosophy, the issues of democracy, and the demographic bonus in Indonesia. It is hoped that this study will make a valuable contribution to improving the quality of Indonesian democracy and how to address the demographic bonus.

Abstract

Women are not actually second class citizens in society.  Women can actually lead too.  However, public awareness of choosing women is still low.  Moreover, in the Indonesian political calendar, in 2024 Indonesia will elect leaders both above the executive and legislative branches.  This article is intended to find out the causes of women’s minimal involvement in the Indonesian political arena.  After that, this article will also show the role of women in leading.  This context will be put into dialogue with the story of Deborah in the Bible, who was also a successful female leader.  The result of this dialogue is to provide a leadership perspective that is not gender biased.  The building in this paper uses the literature method, namely by looking at literature that specifically discusses the two topics that are currently in the spotlight, namely the role of Deborah and the contribution of Indonesian women in leading.
