Abstract

This study examines the concept of eco-mosques as a campaign to strengthen the ecological movement in contemporary Islamic discourse. Ecological campaigns have also been carried out through digital platforms such as the Instagram account @ecomasjid.id, which seeks to reinterpret Islamic values to build ecological awareness through social media campaigns. This study analyzes the construction of eco-theological messages disseminated through the Instagram account @ecomasjid.id. Using a netnographic approach, data was collected from posts, text descriptions, and visual material, then analyzed through the frameworks of ecolinguistics, ecosophy, and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The results show that @ecomasjid.id places ecological responsibility as an integral part of Islamic ethics, emphasizing environmental concern as a manifestation of faith. Maqāṣid principles such as the preservation of life, reason, and property are not presented descriptively, but rather articulated in persuasive narratives that link sustainability with spirituality and community welfare. These findings show that Islamic digital activism is capable of reconstructing classical fiqh concepts to respond to global ecological challenges. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of the transformation of digital da'wah and the integration of maqāṣid values into the ecological consciousness of Muslims.

Abstract

The Appasili wedding tradition in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, has its uniqueness that is rarely found in other places. Appasili involves a series of distinctive rituals, such as marriage proposals, offerings, and joint celebrations, which show the importance of customs and rituals in the lives of the Takalar people. Each element in this tradition has a deep symbolic meaning, reflecting the cultural, spiritual, and social values upheld in local society. The Appasili wedding process also highlights the important role of the extended family and community, showing solidarity and strong social integration in the celebration. This research aims to describe community perceptions and Islamic legal perspectives on this tradition. This research uses a qualitative approach and is field research with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with religious figures and traditional practitioners, as well as related documentation. The research results show that people view the Appasili tradition as a hereditary custom that is believed to perfect and cleanse a marriage. However, the impact is not uniform; Some traditional leaders believe that not carrying out Appasili will have a negative impact, while some people see it as a habit with no significant impact. From the perspective of Islamic law, the Appasili tradition is considered permissible (permissible) because it does not contain harm and is following the principle of "al-urf muhakkam" and includes ‘urf Shohih', namely habits that do not conflict with Sharia law'. This research recommends preserving traditions by the next generation and the need for attention from government agencies in providing an understanding of the importance of preserving these traditions.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to explore the concept of kafa'ah in marriage, particularly the perspectives of Islamic law and customary law regarding marriage within the Syarifah community. This tradition is unique as it emphasizes lineage parity, preserves the purity of Sayyid descent, and involves a strong community role in marriage. The research employs a Shari'a-based and conceptual approach, relying on library research. Data sources are drawn from relevant literature, including books, journals, and other scholarly works related to marriage law and Islamic legal sources. The findings indicate that Ulama Habib prohibits the marriage of a Syariifah woman to a non-Sayyid man, as it is considered incompatible (sekufu’). In the Habib community, marriages within the Ahlul Bait family are deemed obligatory to find a suitable partner, as Syariifah and Sayyid marriages are not just tradition but also a command from the Prophet Muhammad. However, the marriage of a Syariifah to a non-Sayyid man is permitted under Islamic law, as all people are considered equal, and what distinguishes them is their piety (taqwa) to Allah SWT, not their lineage or noble status. The implications of this research suggest that lineage should not be a barrier to marriage as long as the partners possess good character (akhlaqul karimah). The concept of kafa'ah needs to be understood following the goal of building a harmonious family. The legal concept of kafa'ah in fiqh munakahat must be relevant to the context of society and the developments of the time.
