Abstract

In the activities of daily life, people use mathematics so that mathematics can be said to have been integrated with culture. Mathematics is not only involved in daily activities in modern culture or in academic circles, but mathematics is also present in the daily life of traditional societies. Lontong Kupang is one of the traditional foods owned by the Sidoarjo area. Based on the results of observations in the process of processing and making lontong kupang typical of Sidoarjo, there is an element of mathematics that is unconsciously always used in these activities, namely the concept of comparison. This study aims to identify and describe the concept of comparison in the process of making lontong kupang typical of Sidoarjo. This research is included in the type of ethnographic research using an exploratory qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, field notes, and documentation. The subject in this study was Lontong Kupang. This study uses data analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. Based on the description of the process of making lontong kupang, it can be found the concept of comparison in making the sauce. The concept of comparison is a comparison of the number of ingredients which include mussel, water, garlic, scallions and brown sugar. The comparison is sequentially 1:5:0,1:0,1:0,25. This comparison concept can be used to facilitate the process of making Lontong Kupang, namely to estimate the ingredients that must be prepared before making Lontong Kupang. ABSTRAK Dalam aktivitas kehidupan sehari-harinya masyarakat mempergunakan matematika sehingga matematika dapat dikatakan telah menyatu dengan budaya. Matematika tidak hanya terlibat dalam aktivitas sehari-hari pada budaya modern atau pada kalangan akademisi saja, melainkan matematika juga hadir pada kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat tradisional. Lontong Kupang merupakan salah satu makanan tradisional yang dimiliki oleh daerah Sidoarjo. Berdasarkan hasil observasi didalam proses pengolahan dan pembuatan lontong kupang khas Sidoarjo terdapat unsur matematika yang tanpa disadari selalu digunakan dalam kegiatan tersebut yakni konsep perbandingan. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan konsep perbandingan pada proses pembuatan lontong kupang khas Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian etnografi dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksploratif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah Lontong Kupang. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis data yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan uraian proses pembuatan lontong kupang, maka dapat ditemukan konsep perbandingan pada pembuatan kuahnya. Konsep perbandingan tersebut merupakan perbandingan dari banyaknya bahan-bahan yang meliputi kupang, air, bawang putih, daun bawang dan gula merah. Perbandingannya secara berurutan yaitu 1:5:0,1:0,1:0,25. Konsep perbandingan ini dapat digunakan untuk memudahkan dalam proses pembuatan kupang yakni untuk memperkirakan bahan-bahan yang harus disiapkan sebelum membuat kupang.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is a person's ability to think logically in drawing a conclusion from problem solving in the mathematics learning process. By thinking logically, students can have confidence that the mathematics they learn is reasonable so that it affects the mathematical information and knowledge that students receive. It will also lead to different perceptions of each student in participating in mathematics learning. To determine the ability of mathematical reasoning when viewed from the perception of students, it can be done by giving geometry questions. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical reasoning ability of students with positive and negative perceptions in working on geometry problems. This research uses a qualitative approach with exploratory descriptive research. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Balongbendo with the research subjects of two students of class VIII E, with each of them being a student with positive perceptions and a student with negative perceptions. Data collection techniques used are tests and interviews, while to determine the validity of the data using time triangulation. The results of this study indicate that students with positive perceptions can achieve every indicator of mathematical reasoning ability. While students with negative perceptions have not been able to fulfill every indicator of mathematical reasoning ability.
