Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common anemia in both developed and developing countries; caused by a lack of iron availability in the body, causing insufficient iron needed for the formation of red blood cells. Majority of IDA that occurs in children needs serious attention because iron deficiency has an impact on children's growth and development disorders. This type of anemia not only has general symptoms, but also has oral manifestations that can be detected in the soft tissues of the oral cavity. The IDA can occur due to impaired absorption of iron in the intestine. The existence of these malnutrition factors makes the role of probiotics one of the solutions that can be developed in the management of Iron Deficiency Anemia by helping to increase iron absorption.

Abstract

Dental caries is one of the most common diseases in children worldwide. In the age range of 3-6 years, nine out of ten children in Indonesia experience dental caries. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is an option of caries management to inhibit caries activity in primary teeth. The SDF has received a lot of attention recently due to its ease of application, effectiveness, affordability, and short uptime. This article aims to review the treatment of silver diamine fluoride in pediatric dentistry.

Abstract

Karies gigi merupakan salah satu penyakit terbanyak pada anak-anak di seluruh dunia. Pada rentang usia 3-6 tahun, sembilan dari sepuluh anak di Indonesia mengalami karies gigi. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) merupakan salah satu pilihan dalam manajemen karies untuk menghambat aktivitas karies pada gigi sulung. Akhir-akhir ini SDF telah mendapatkan banyak perhatian karena kemudahan aplikasinya, efektivitas, harga yang terjangkau, dan waktu kerja yang singkat. Artikel ini bertujuan mengulas tentang perawatan silver diamine fluoride pada praktik kedokteran gigi anak.
