Abstract

The most commonly used cephalometric analysis is Steiner because it is quick and easy to use. In lateral cephalometry, land-marks such as porions and orbitals are easily identified using the SN plane. Steiner analysis includes skeletal analysis, dental analysis, and soft tissue analysis. It is clear that Steiner's skeletal analysis can be used to determine the anteroposterior position of the maxilla and mandible (SNA, SNB and ANB angles) as well as the position of the mandible (SN and Go-Gn angles), and shows factors that are important measuring tools in determining the diagnosis, and orthodontic treatment plan. It was concluded that Steiner divided his analysis into bone, tooth and soft tissue sections by focusing on the relationship between the ANB angle and the U1-NA/L1-NB angle, as well as on the position of the mandibular and maxillary incisal edges with respect to the NA and NB lines.
