Abstract

The level of oral health in Indonesia is still very low. Based on the 2018 Rikesdas report, almost 70% of Indonesians experience oral disease, especially caries and periodontal disease. These oral diseases are most commonly experienced by school-age child-ren because their level of education and knowledge about oral health is still low. Efforts to introduce oral health to student must be done as early as possible. In this study, interactive counseling was conducted to students of the Islamic Modern Boarding School Shohwatul Is'ad, Ma'rang District, Pangkep Regency using a dental simulator to measure the effectiveness of interac-tive oral health counseling on student behaviour using a pseudo-experimental method with a pre and posttest design approach. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of oral health counselling with interactive methods on the level of know-ledge of students at the Shohwatul Is'ad Islamic Modern Boarding School so it was concluded that there was an effect of oral health counselling with interactive methods on the level of knowledge of students at the islamic boarding school.
