Abstract

In the current digital era, technology has become an essential tool in planning travel experiences. Tourists often face challenges in determining efficient travel routes amidst the numerous available tourist attractions. A map-based application that provides recommendations for the shortest routes can help optimize tourists' time and experience. Palembang, as a tourist destination rich in history and culture, faces challenges in accommodating first-time visitors, particularly in finding efficient travel routes. To address this issue, the development of a tourist guide application based on mapping technology and route-search algorithms, such as the A* method, can serve as an effective solution. This application can offer guidance on the fastest and shortest routes, avoid traffic congestion, and enhance the overall tourist experience. Furthermore, it supports the tourism sector by promoting local attractions and making it easier for tourists to plan their trips. By implementing this technology, the quality of the tourism experience in Palembang can be improved, in line with the global trend of digitalization in the tourism industry.

Abstract

This study investigates the performance of a standalone digital communication system based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for digital image transmission over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channels. The system was tested using two digital modulation techniques: Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) and Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK). Unlike previous studies that focused on OFDM implementation in large-scale communication systems such as cellular networks, this research explores a simplified standalone scenario without any supporting network infrastructure. Simulations were carried out in the MATLAB environment using grayscale image inputs ranging from 1 MB to 10 MB, with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels varying from 0 to 30 dB. The results show that BPSK modulation maintains a low Bit Error Rate (BER) of approximately 0.077 even under low SNR conditions (as low as 0 dB). In contrast, QPSK modulation achieves optimal performance when the SNR reaches at least 15 dB, where the BER drops to 0.00000. The image size did not significantly affect system performance, indicating robustness across varying data loads. Overall, the findings suggest that BPSK provides higher reliability in noisy channels, whereas QPSK offers better spectral efficiency under cleaner conditions. Therefore, the proposed standalone OFDM system demonstrates strong potential for lightweight data communication applications such as sensor networks and remote monitoring systems operating in limited network environments.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of the K-Means and K-Medoids algorithms in clustering tourist destinations in Bali Province based on multidimensional characteristics, including rating, number of reviews, latitude, longitude, category, and district/city. The dataset used comes from Kaggle with 1,000 tourist destination data that have gone through a preprocessing process in the form of data cleaning, feature selection, normalization, and logarithmic transformation. The optimal number of clusters is determined using the Elbow Method in the range of K = 2 to K = 10, while the quality of the clusters is evaluated using the Silhouette Score, Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI), and Mean Squared Error (MSE). The results show that the optimal number of clusters is K = 10. K-Means produces a Silhouette Score of 0.2078, a DBI of 1.2714, and an MSE of 2.2764, thus showing better performance than K-Medoids. This study contributes in the form of a comparative evaluation of the two algorithms and recommendations for clustering methods that are more suitable for Bali tourist destination data. The research results can also support decision making in the management and development of the tourism sector.
