Abstract

3D animation is created using keyframe based system in 3D animation software such as Blender and Maya. Due to the long time interval and the need of high expertise in 3D animation, motion capture devices were used as an alternative and Microsoft Kinect v2 sensor is one of them. This research analyses the capabilities of the Kinect sensor in producing 3D human model animations using motion capture and keyframe based animation system in reference to a live motion performance. The quality, time interval and cost of both animation results were compared. The experimental result shows that motion capture system with Kinect sensor consumed less time (only 2.6%) and cost (30%) in the long run (10 minutes of animation) compare to keyframe-based system, but it produced lower quality animation. This was due to the lack of body detection accuracy when there is obstruction. Moreover, the sensor’s constant assumption that the performer’s body faces forward made it unreliable to be used for a wide variety of movements. Furthermore, standard test defined in this research covers most body parts’ movements to evaluate other motion capture system.

Abstract

Perfectly segmenting the area of the iris is one of the most important steps in iris recognition. There are several problematic areas that affect the accuracy of the iris segmentation step, such as eyelids, eyelashes, glasses, pupil (due to less accurate iris segmentation), motion blur, and lighting and specular reflections. To solve these problems, gradient magnitude and Fourier descriptor are employed to do iris segmentation in the proposed Multimodal Biometric Authentication System (MBAS). This approach showed quite promising results, i.e. an accuracy rate of 97%. The result of the iris recognition system was combined with the result of an open-source fingerprint recognition system to develop a multimodal biometrics authentication system. The results of the fusion between iris and fingerprint authentication were 99% accurate. Data from Multimedia Malaysia University (MMUI) and our own prepared database, the SGU-MB-1 dataset, were used to test the accuracy of the proposed system.

Abstract

Rett Syndrome occurs between one in 10000 to 15000 girls in Indonesia. In Hasan Sadikin Hospital, Bandung, Indonesia, there is a girl suffering from Rett Syndrome. Doctors in Hasan Sadikin Hospital find a lot of difficulties in communicating with the patient, since Rett Syndrome patients has little-to-no speech capabilities, and their hands often move involuntarily, especially with regards to Activities of Daily Living (ADL). Hence, a method to communicate with Rett Syndrome patient is being proposed using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to support communication between the caregiver and the patient. Two of those methods are using gaze-tracking and head-pose. The methods tested consists of head-pose algorithm, gaze-tracking with Dlib, gaze-tracking with Haar Cascades, and EyeTribe. Each method is tested first with normal people before being tested with the patient. EyeTribe, head-pose, and gaze-tracking algorithm using Dlib achieve good results, with the best results being at 50cm distance and with high light intensity, however the Rett Syndrome patient achieves poor results when using the application, although head-pose achieves the best results in terms of determining needed ADL at around 45% accuracy. Hence, the Rett Syndrome patient needs training to use the application properly.

Abstract

This project is conducted based on the Nawacita policy from President Joko Widodo. Tourists tend to explore the attraction independently instead of using a tour guide, but there are minimum supporting facilities because of the limitations of detailed information on tourist attraction in various languages that are not interesting and less interactive. The objectives of the research are to develop an Internet of Things based mobile application named eTourGuide that uses a location-based service to get information about the content interestingly and interactively inside a museum. The location-based service uses beacon that broadcast Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) signal. Development of the research includes several experiments for gathering the data optimally. After completing the development, user experience questionnaire is required to evaluate the result of user’s experience after using the application. The result shows positive results of user’s experience after using the application.

Abstract

This study explores the use of drone technology to assess landslides within PT. KLM’s nickel mining area. Key challenges in collecting geotechnical data include difficult terrain, landslide risks, and limitations of conventional survey methods. The research applies the Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach to identify issues, collect and analyze drone data, and develop solutions to reduce landslide risks. Drone flights were conducted at altitudes of 100 m, 150 m, and 200 m, producing maps that evaluate each flight's image resolution, collision risk, photo coverage, flight area, and suitability. Based on these results, the 150 m altitude was selected as optimal. Using Real Time Kinematic (RTK) processing, the drone data showed an average accuracy variance of about 0.317 meters. Findings indicate that drone data effectively produces high-resolution orthophotos, contour maps, and 3D models to monitor terrain changes before and after landslides. Overall, drone technology improves efficiency, enhances safety, and increases data quality for better landslide risk management in nickel mining.
