Abstract

The research was conducted to examine transfer nitrogen from peanut to corn and determine the best planting time of peanut and corn which were cultivated by intercropping system. The research was conducted at dryland of Ungaran Central Java from December 2015 to April 2016. This research was complated using an experimental design with single factor, arranged in completely randomized block design. The treatments were monoculture system of corn (J), monoculture system of peanut (K), intercropping system: corn was planted two weeks after peanut  (TS 1), intercropping system: peanut was planted two weeks after corn (TS 2), and intercropping system: corn and peanut were planted in the same time  (TS 3). Each treatment was replicated 3 times. The results showed that the transfer of nitrogen from peanuts to corn occured when the corn plants were in the stage of maximum vegetative growth. In this research, treatment TS 2 is the best planting time than other treatments as indicated by the yield of 4.02 tonnes corn per hectare.

Abstract

The production of sugarcane in 2018 decreased due to the change in the cultivation method from lowland to upland. This research aimed to study the responses of growth and yield of two sugarcane varieties to the application of filter cake compost and inorganic fertilizer in upland sugarcane cultivation. This experiment was arranged in a split-split plot design consisting of three-factors, which were sugarcane varieties, the levels of filter cake compost, and the rates of inorganic fertilizer, assigned to the main plot, sub-plot, and sub-sub plots, respectively. The two sugarcane varieties were PS 881 and PS 862. The three levels of filter cake compost were 0, 5, 10 tons ha-1, and the four rates of inorganic fertilizers (percent of recommended dosage) were 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The results showed that the growth and yield of PS 862 was better than that of PS 881, shown in the plant height, stem diameter, number of stems, and the length of internodes. The use of filter cake compost at a dose of 5 tons ha-1 was more efficient, and it could provide an efficiency of 0.097 tons per kg of cane at a dose of 76.76% inorganic fertilizer. Yet, it cannot reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer in producing sugarcane yield.

Abstract

Abstract

Vegetables like tomatoes are in high demand, grow in value annually, and are significant to the Indonesian economy. This study aims to determine the optimal PGPR type and its impact on tomato crop growth and yield. This research method used a completely randomized design in three replications using multiple kinds of PGPR consisting of five levels: control, PGPR bamboo roots, PGPR sensitive plant roots, PGPR teakwood roots, and PGPR corn roots. The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, fruit number, weight, and diameter. The result showed that the treatment of PGPR significantly affected plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, fruit number, weight, and diameter. The PGPR with sensitive plant root types had the best treatment for tomato growth and yield.
