Abstract

Weeds can be a limiting factor in palm oil production due to competition for light energy, water, O2, CO2, and space. This research aims to determine the type, composition, and structure of weed vegetation in immature oil palm plantations (TBM) on mineral land. The research uses a purposive sampling method. Sampling was carried out in three garden blocks on TBM land, with rectangular plots measuring 1 x 1 m created, totaling nine plots from the three blocks. In each observation plot, the type, composition, and structure of weed vegetation were identified, and the diversity index was calculated. The research found 10 types of weeds, consisting of broadleaf weeds and grassy weeds. The composition of weeds found in TBM oil palm plantations includes 10 types with a total of 334 individuals. The weed most frequently found is torpedo grass (Panicum repens). The dominant weed vegetation structure in TBM oil palm plantations is the grassy weed Panicum repens, which has an NJD value of 26.76%. The weed diversity index value is 1.84, which falls into the high category.
