Abstract

This research aims to analyse the image of women in the short story entitled “Rabiah” by Hasan Al Banna. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research is short story entitled “Rabiah” by Hasan Al Banna. The data of this research are words, phrases, or sentences that contain information about the image of women in the short story entitled “Rabiah” by Hasan Al Banna. The data were collected by reading and note-taking techniques. The data obtained from this study were analysed using content analysis. Based on the analysis result, it was found that a woman in the short story entitled “Rabiah” by Hasan Al Banna described as a brave, intelligent, and kind woman. A brave woman was described through the figure of Rabiah who has bravery to work in the overseas without her family. An intelligent woman was described through the figure of Rabiah who showed her ability to think perfectly. A kind woman was described through the figure of Rabiah who respected her parents by listening their advice.

Abstract

This research aims to This research aims to provide an analysis of the short story: Dua Lembar Jilbab Buat Aisyah using the M. H. Abrams approach. In this study, the studies carried out are (1) describing the content of short stories; (2) analyzing the intrinsic elements of short stories: Dua Lembar Jilbab Buat Aisyah. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. The subject of this research is Short Story: Dua Lembar Jilbab Buat Aisyah by Maulana Satrya Sinaga. The data collection technique uses library and note-taking techniques. Library design is a technique for retrieving the desired information using the methods described. The results showed that in the short story Dua Lembar Jilbab Buat Aisyah Kraya Maulana Satya Sinaga tells the struggle of the main character who works in Japan, as well as his love story with aisyah, in the end aisyah married her own cousin. The characters in the short story are Fathir, Irwan, and Aisyah. This short story uses a mixed plot or flow.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the following problems, students' speaking ability is still low, students' confidence to speak in front of the class is still low, lack of vocabulary mastery in students. The sample was taken randomly, namely class IX-2 totaling 30 students as the experimental class and class IX-1 totaling 30 students as the control class. The method used was experimental method. The instrument used was a test. Hypothesis testing was done using the “t” test. The results showed that using the TPS model can improve students' speaking ability. This is evident from the average value obtained by students, namely 13% in the very good category, 60% in the good category, 27% in the sufficient category, 0% in the poor category, and 0% in the very poor category
