Abstract

The quality of life in employees is an issue that must be examined as it is a crucial point for organization or industry growth. This study aims to investigate the correlation between professional quality of life with physical and psychological health in textile sector employees. Study was conducted on (N=150, male and female employees) employees from 19 textile companies in Lahore city, Pakistan. A correlational research design was used, and sample was selected by using stratified sampling technique. A series of questionnaire (Professional Quality of life and (SF-12) Short Form-12 Health survey) was administered to employees after taking consent from the them. The results indicate that quality of life has relationship with physical and psychological health. Specifically, compassion satisfaction aspect has positive significant relationship with physical and mental health component while inverse relationship with burnout and compassion fatigue. When compassion satisfaction increases, the physical and psychological health of the workers improved and vice versa. Similarly, when burnout and compassion fatigue increase, it affected the physical and psychological health of the workers. It is recommended to the organization to make plans and policies to boost up employees mental and physical health. Kualitas hidup karyawan merupakan masalah yang harus diperhatikan terutama dalam dunia kerja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kualitas hidup professional dengan kesehatan fisik dan psikologis pada karyawan sektor tekstil. Studi dilakukan pada (N=150, karyawan pria dan wanita) karyawan dari 19 perusahaan tekstil di kota Lahore, Pakistan. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasional, dan sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik stratified sampling. Serangkaian kuesioner (Professional Quality of life dan (SF-12) Short Form-12 Health survey) diberikan kepada karyawan setelah mendapat persetujuan dari mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas hidup memiliki hubungan dengan kesehatan fisik dan psikologis. Secara khusus, aspek compassion satisfaction memiliki hubungan positif yang signifikan dengan komponen kesehatan fisik dan mental, sedangkan hubungan terbalik dengan burnout dan compassion fatigue. Ketika compassion satisfacion meningkat, kesehatan fisik dan psikologis pekerja meningkat dan sebaliknya. Demikian pula ketika burnout dan compasison fatigue meningkat, hal itu mempengaruhi kesehatan fisik dan psikologis para pekerja. Disarankan kepada organisasi untuk membuat rencana dan kebijakan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan mental dan fisik karyawan.

Abstract

In our society, obese young boys and girls often have problems with their self-esteem. Present research aimed to discover the relationship between body image, body mass index, body shape dissatisfaction and gender with self-esteem among obese young girls and boys. Study was conducted on (N=200, 100 young obese boys and 100 young obese girls, age ranges from 20-35 years) origin from cities of Punjab, Pakistan. Correlational research design was used while sample was selected by purposive sampling technique. A series of questionnaires Body Shape questionnaire – Modified Form (BSQMF) and Rosenberg self-esteem scale were administered to young obese boys and girls. The results indicated positive relationship among gender, body mass index, body shape dissatisfaction and self-esteem, while significant differences were found in girls and boys regarding body image and self-esteem. Girls has higher mean scores on body image that reduces their self-esteem comparatively to boys. Therefore, it is recommended to spread awareness about right body image through media to protect and enhance the mental and physical health of adults.    Dalam masyarakat kita, remaja laki-laki dan perempuan yang mengalami obesitas sering kali mempunyai masalah dengan harga diri mereka. Penelitian saat ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara citra tubuh, indeks massa tubuh, ketidakpuasan bentuk tubuh dan gender dengan harga diri pada remaja perempuan dan laki-laki yang mengalami obesitas. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap (N=200, 100 remaja putra yang mengalami obesitas dan 100 remaja putri yang mengalami obesitas, rentang usia 20-35 tahun) yang berasal dari kota Punjab, Pakistan. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasional, sedangkan sampel dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Serangkaian kuesioner Kuesioner Bentuk Tubuh – Bentuk Modifikasi (BSQ-MF) dan skala harga diri Rosenberg diberikan kepada remaja laki-laki dan perempuan muda yang mengalami obesitas. Hasilnya menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara jenis kelamin, indeks massa tubuh, ketidakpuasan dan bentuk tubuh dengan harga diri, sedangkan perbedaan signifikan ditemukan pada anak perempuan dan laki-laki mengenai citra tubuh dan harga diri. Anak perempuan mempunyai skor rata-rata yang lebih tinggi pada citra tubuh sehingga menurunkan harga diri mereka dibandingkan anak laki-laki. Oleh karena itu, disarankan untuk menyebarkan kesadaran tentang citra tubuh yang benar melalui media untuk melindungi dan meningkatkan kesehatan mental dan fisik orang dewasa.

Abstract

The research aims to find out the level of work engagement and social support among transgenders performing traditional work role and transgender’s performing non-traditional work role. Cross sectional and correlational research design were used with purposive sampling of 200 transgenders (traditional work performer n=100 and non-traditional work performer n = 100) from different Non-Government Organizations of Lahore, Pakistan. A series of questionnaire as Utrecht work engagement scale and Multidimensional scale of perceived social support was administered to transgenders after taking consent. Regression and correlation analysis were used to analyse data. Results revealed that work engagement and social support were significantly high in non-traditional work performing transgenders as compared to traditional work performing transgenders. Research conclusion specifies that work engagement predicts social support among transgenders work role. Lastly, inclusion of more researches in this community recommended to make them active and contributing citizens.
