Abstract

This research assesses the factors influencing students' decision-making when choosing a university. The study proposes eight factors, such as parental or guardian influence, high school teacher recommendations, graduate quality, colleague recommendations, location, school fees, learning environment, and university reputation, on students' university choices. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing both secondary and primary data. A total of 330 students were sampled for this study. The data were analyzed using SPSS, employing descriptive statistics for data summarization and inferential statistics for analysis. Descriptive tools such as frequency analysis were used to examine the distribution of responses, while regression analysis was conducted to test the predictive power of the factors. The findings of this study indicate that factors such as parental or guardian influence, high school teacher recommendations, graduate quality, colleague recommendations, location, school fees, learning environment, and university reputation are all significant considerations in students' decision-making process when choosing a university. These factors play an influential role in shaping students' preferences and choices. The results show that these factors significantly impact students' university choices. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the importance of these factors in the decision-making process. Understanding the influence of these factors can assist universities in developing targeted strategies to attract and meet the needs of prospective students. By recognizing the significance of parental involvement, fostering positive relationships with high school teachers, showcasing successful graduates, promoting positive word-of-mouth recommendations, providing a conducive learning environment, and building a solid reputation, universities can enhance their appeal and effectively compete in the higher education market. Further research in this area can explore additional factors and delve deeper into the mechanisms influencing students' decision-making when choosing a university.

Abstract

Industry growth and technological advancement have increased concerns about the environment. These concerns require companies to adopt environmental practices in their business operations. Green practices in human resources are important. However, there was no study on environmental adoption in human resources in Cambodia. The research aims to assess the extent of green human resource management practices and the relationship between these practices and competitive advantages. Researchers randomly selected a total of 100 teachers from private schools in Siem Reap province, Cambodia, for interviews. A Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 was used in this research, with 1 indicating "strongly disagree" and 5 indicating "strongly agree." A descriptive statistic tool (mean, frequency) and an inferential statistic (multiple regression) were employed. The data was analyzed with descriptive and inferential SPSS tools. A high degree of green human resource management was found to be implemented. Green human resource practices, including staff recruitment and selection, training and development, staff performance appraisal, staff empowerment, and staff communication culture, were found to significantly and statistically predict competitive advantages. Further research should be conducted on green practices in private schools and other sectors, as well as in different geographical areas.

Abstract

Technology adoption is crucial for enhancing efficiency and competitiveness, especially for women in Cambodia's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Despite SMEs being recognized as key drivers of economic growth, women entrepreneurs face significant challenges, including limited digital awareness, weak technology support, and restricted access to resources. This study explores the factors influencing technology adoption, benefits, and coping strategies. Data were collected from 121 women entrepreneurs in Cambodia's SMEs using a self-administered survey. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including correlation analysis, were employed to assess the relationships between adoption factors, benefits, and coping strategies. The study identified six key factors influencing technology adoption: operational optimization, client and business relationships, market expansion, information accessibility, cost considerations, and adoption. It also found four key benefits of technology adoption: improved information management, enhanced communication, increased operational efficiency, and a strengthened business reputation. Common strategies to overcome adoption barriers included human-centred approaches, such as workforce training and leadership engagement, and operational strategies, like reducing internet costs and improving connectivity. Results showed a strong positive relationship between adoption factors and perceived benefits (r = 0.7779, p < 0.0001) and a moderate correlation with coping strategies (r = 0.5642, p < 0.0001), confirming that as adoption factors improve, the benefits and coping strategies also strengthen. This study fills a critical research gap by focusing on the underexplored experiences, providing actionable insights for policymakers and business leaders. It emphasizes the need for policy support, infrastructure improvements, and training programs to foster a technology-driven business environment.

Abstract

Phnom Penh is experiencing rapid urbanization, which has led to a proliferation of real estate development projects. However, at the same time, problems facing this market include both overproduction and desperate marketing attempts, as well as the continued mismatch between supply and demand in housing for local residents. Empirical evidence for Cambodia’s capital is scarce, although the influences of property features, marketing strategies, and economic conditions on buyer behavior have been addressed in earlier studies published from Southeast Asia. Drawing on responses from 410 Phnom Penh residents with stable monthly incomes who were diverse in terms of age, gender, education, occupation, and marital status. Both English and Khmer versions of a structured questionnaire were used to collect responses, followed by descriptive statistical analysis of the data to identify the factors that play a dominant role in influencing home purchase intentions and decisions among Phnom Penh residents from different backgrounds. Results indicate that property characteristics (M = 4.03, SD = 0.76) and financial and access factors (M = 3.95, SD = 0.74) were rated highest, while buyer perception and marketing influence (M = 3.72, SD = 0.79) also played a significant role. Among these domains, importance was placed on legal ownership paperwork (M = 4.38, SD = 0.74), safety and security (M = 4.30, SD = 0.71), and affordability and financing options (M = 3.87–4.06), which were revealed to be the key decision-making elements. The research aims to provide contextually relevant recommendations for developers, marketers, financial institutions, and policymakers in Cambodia. Its originality lies in being one of the first Phnom Penh–specific, factor-based empirical studies on homebuyer attitudes, and in contributing to the regional literature on urban housing processes in Southeast Asia, while confirming the main hypothesis that microeconomic and perceptual factors play a significant role in shaping real estate behavior among Generation Z homebuyers.
