Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses konstruksi rumus luas segiempat dan segitiga dalam rangka menumbuhkan pemahaman matematis siswa. Konstruksi dilakukan dengan bantuan media gospel (geometri segitiga tempel) yang disusun dalam bentuk LKS berbasis konstruktivis metakognitif. Peneliti mengambil partisipan siswa kelas VII J SMP Negeri 02 Malang. Teknik purposive sampling digunakan untuk memilih partisipan. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Terdapat tiga tahap prosedur penelitian yang dilaksanakan meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pada tahap perencanaan dilakukan pembuatan media gospel, catatan lapangan, lembar kesimpulan, dan soal tes. Tahap pelaksanaan dilaksanakan dalam dua kali pertemuan. Pada tahap penarikan kesimpulan, dilakukan analisis terhadap hasil pekerjaan siswa pada LKS, catatan lapangan, lembar kesimpulan, komentar siswa, dan lembar jawaban soal tes. Berdasarkan analisis diperoleh informasi bahwa konstruksi rumus luas segitiga dan segiempat dapat membantu siswa menumbuhkan pemahaman matematis. Hal tersebut ditunjukan dengan keberhasilan siswa mengerjakan LKS dengan baik dan benar serta menggunakan prosedur yang tepat dalam menyelesaikan soal pada tes. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa siswa yang masih memiliki skor dibawah 80. Hal tersebut diakibatkan karena kemampuan numerik siswa yang masih kurang. Fakta tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman matematis yang baik perlu diimbangi dengan kemampuan numerik yang baik pula.

Abstract

Cognitive abilities are very important for students to have because they are related to the thinking process. However, students' cognitive abilities in Indonesia are relatively low, so efforts are needed to develop students' cognitive abilities. Currently, games have become a popular activity for children. Games designed specifically for learning mathematics have the potential to help students understand abstract mathematical material. The purpose of this study is to conduct a literature review on the use of games-based learning media to support students' cognitive abilities in mathematics learning. The research method used is a systematic literature review. The stages are research question, data selection and extraction, and data analysis. Data was obtained by collecting all articles related to the research topic. Articles are taken from Google Scholar and Springer Link databases. From a total of 1836 articles obtained from the two databases, 15 articles were selected based on quality assessment criteria for analysis. The results of the research are that the use of games-based learning media in mathematics learning has various positive impacts on students' cognitive abilities. Games-based learning media can improve numeracy skills, mathematical communication, mathematical representation, and higher-level thinking. This research can become literature for researchers who will develop games-based learning to support students' cognitive abilities.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe students’ mathematical communication in terms of student’s learning interests based on the SOLO Taxonomy level. The research method is a descriptive qualitative study conducted at SMPN 35 Pekanbaru grades VIII. The subject of this research is 8 students in grades VIII with high and medium learning interests. The research instruments used are a learning interest questionnaire and a mathematical communication test. The analysis consists of three stages: data condensation, displaying data, and drawing the conclusion. The research concludes there is no significant difference in students’ mathematical communication levels between medium and high learning interest students. Students with medium and high learning interests are on the multi-structural level. However, students with high learning interests put more effort into solving mathematics problems than students with medium learning interests. Therefore, efforts are needed, such as using the interactive learning model and media which increase the student’s learning interest to develop students’ mathematical communication ability.
