Therefore, this has made some people who live in coastal areas have a tradition  that  is  carried  out  as  a  form  of  gratitude  and  thanks  because  the  natural resources they get from the sea can meet their needs. Coastal communities usually use rituals  that  have  become  a  hereditary  tradition  as  an  expression  of  gratitude.  In addition, this tradition carried out by coastal communities is also a prayer or hope that the  fish  catch  will  be  abundant  and  also  get  safety.  This  activity  is  carried  out  during Muharram or Suro. This Petik Laut tradition is an amalgamation of local wisdom and religion. In the tradition of sea cucumbers, there are prayers and recitation of the holy verses of the Koran before finally the offerings are thrown into the sea

Abstract

The amount of waste and residual materials produced by human enrichment increases every year along with the increasing population. Empowering household units in managing domestic organic waste has the potential to reduce organic waste, including food waste. In addition to disposing of household organic waste, it can also be used as raw material for making compost. The purpose of this community service activity is to demonstrate liquid organic fertilizer production techniques to the local community and increase public awareness of the benefits of household waste processing. This activity was attended by 20 people from household representatives in Banteng Village, Tersono District, Batang Regency. The demonstration service method implemented was considered effective in terms of the interest and level of innovation of the community in utilizing empty land as a follow-up to making liquid organic fertilizer independently.

Abstract

Household waste, although a significant environmental challenge, has the potential to be converted into valuable resources. This article discusses effective methods for transforming household waste into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF), an environmentally friendly solution that improves soil quality and supports plant growth. By utilizing materials such as food scraps, fruit peels, and dry leaves, this process not only reduces the volume of waste sent to landfills but also benefits home gardening. The article outlines practical methods for producing LOF, including simple fermentation techniques, necessary equipment, and a step-by-step guide. It also discusses the ecological and economic benefits of using household waste as LOF and its impact on sustainability and waste management. With comprehensive and easy-to-follow information, this article aims to encourage individuals and communities to adopt these practices as part of their waste management and sustainable agriculture efforts.
