<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap demokratis peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS di MTs Negeri 1 Mamuju. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi dan wawancara. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 1 guru dan 1 kelas VIII di MTs Negeri 1 Mamuju. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan penerapan model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap demokratis. Indikator merumuskan masalah menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Peserta didik memiliki kemampuan untuk bertanya dan menjawab pertanyaan, menganalisis masalah, mencari informasi yang relevan, dan membuat kesimpulan tentang hasil presentasi. Dari perspektif demokratis, peserta didik memiliki kebebasan berbicara, menghargai pendapat orang lain, bekerja sama atau berkolaborasi dalam membuat keputusan, dan terbuka terhadap pendapat orang lain. Namun, sikap demokratis peserta didik yang paling menonjol dalam konteks ini adalah bekerja sama dalam kelompok. Perilaku demokratis peserta didik saat berbicara dinilai sangat mendukung aktivitas belajar mereka. The aim of the research is to find out how the application of the Problem Based Learning Model can improve students' critical thinking skills and democratic attitudes in social studies subjects at MTs Negeri 1 Mamuju. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Data collection techniques using observation and interviews. The sample for this research consist of 1 teacher and 1 class VIII at MTs Negeri 1 Mamuju. The research finding shows that applying the Problem Based Learning model can improve critical thinking skills and democratic attitudes. Indicators of formulating problems show critical thinking skills. Students have the ability to ask and answer questions, analyze problems, search for relevant information, and make conclusions about the results of the presentation. From a democratic perspective, students have freedom of speech, respect other people's opinions, work together or collaborate in making decisions, and are open to other people's opinions. However, the most prominent democratic attitude of students in this context is working together in groups. Students' democratic behavior when speaking is considered to really support their learning activities.]]>
