Abstract

Background Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is the main indicator for assessing the success of maternal health programs because of its sensitivity to improving health services, both in terms of accessibility and quality. Acceleration in reducing MMR can be achieved by improving health services for pregnant women in prenatal yoga classes which have the benefit of improving maternal health, both physical, mental and emotional. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between maternal age, maternal employment and husband's support on maternal participation in prenatal yoga classes. Methode This research method is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The subjects were 42 primigravida. The sampling used was consecutive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire list, then the data was processed using the Chi Square test. Result The results of the bivariate test using the chi square test showed that there was a significant relationship between husband's support (p value = 0.009), there was no significant relationship between mother's age (p value = 0.559) and mother's employment (p value = 0.525) with the participation of primigravida pregnant women in taking prenatal yoga classes. Conclussion Husband's support is associated with mother's participation in prenatal yoga classes.

Abstract

Background: Anatomical readjustments during pregnancy commonly trigger musculoskeletal disorders and childbirth-related anxiety, impacting the overall well-being of the mother. In Desa Tenaru, physical discomfort is frequently normalized by pregnant women because they lack the necessary tools and techniques for effective pain management. Objective: This community service program aims to equip pregnant women with self-care skills through Prenatal Yoga to reduce physical discomfort and maintain emotional stability. Methods: The activity was conducted at the Balai Posyandu with 18 pregnant women as participants. The methods included an initial assessment using the Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ), health education, demonstrations, and Prenatal Yoga practice, followed by a post-test evaluation. Results: Participant characteristics were dominated by the 20-35 age group (83%), primigravida (61%), and employed status (72%). Evaluation results showed a significant decrease in physical discomfort: before the intervention, the majority of participants experienced moderate discomfort (55.6%), which decreased to the low category (55.6%) after receiving education and practicing Prenatal Yoga. Conclusion: The implementation of Prenatal Yoga within the Pregnancy Class agenda is effective in reducing physical discomfort among pregnant women. This practice serves as a safe and holistic non-pharmacological solution to enhance maternal well-being and mental readiness for labor

Abstract

Continuity of Care (CoC) is a midwifery care model that provides continuous care from pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and newborn care to family planning services. This approach aims to improve the quality of care, enable early detection of complications, and enhance maternal and neonatal health outcomes. This study aimed to describe the implementation of Continuity of Care midwifery services for Mrs. D, aged 25 years, at PMB Siti Nur Azizah, Wonoayu, Sidoarjo, East Java. This study employed a descriptive method with a case study approach. The subject was Mrs. D, a primigravida woman who received midwifery care from the first trimester of pregnancy through the postpartum period, newborn care, and family planning services. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examinations, and medical record review. The results showed that throughout pregnancy, both maternal and fetal conditions remained within physiological limits with routine monitoring and adequate health education. Labor occurred spontaneously and normally with the application of respectful maternity care and interventions based on clinical indications. The postpartum period progressed normally with good uterine involution and adequate breast milk production. The newborn demonstrated optimal physiological adaptation and received essential neonatal care. In the family planning phase, Mrs. D chose a three-month injectable contraceptive, which was appropriate for her breastfeeding condition and pregnancy spacing needs.
