Abstract

The importance of choosing a nosepad that fits the type of frame by the practitioner is one of the main factors in wearing comfort. The most adjustable parts of the frame are the handle and the nosepad, so a practitioner should choose an easy-to-adjust nosepad. In addition, it would be great if the selected frame has a distance between the nosepads that is not much different from the size of the bridge of the nose where the pad will be attached. This is to avoid changing the shape of the nosepad holder which is too extreme. The purpose of the research to be achieved by the author is to describe the ability of the Frame Fitting on the Pad Arm section of the Kendari area of optics. The type of research used in this research is qualitative research Based on the results of the research and discussion in the previous chapter, 5 informants who are considered to represent optics in the Kendari area, the results are obtained. standard splay angle, front angle, and vertical angle as well as the term pad arm. The standard fitting capability is always carried out by the 5 optics located in the kendari area. Practitioners who represent 5 opticians in the Kendari area always prioritize the comfort of their customers. They don't discriminate against any customer who needs their services. Practitioners use special tools to make fittings, especially on the eyeglass pad arm.

Abstract

Digital Eye Strain (DES) is an increasingly common problem among computer users due to prolonged screen use. The study aims to assess the prevalence and severity of DES in different age groups, as well as identify the main factors that play a role in this condition. Over the past few decades, the use of digital devices such as computers, tablets, and smartphones has experienced a significant increase. DES is a set of symptoms in the eyes and vision associated with long-term use of digital devices. Common symptoms that are often reported include dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches, and eye fatigue. Several studies show that the prevalence of DES is quite significant, especially among office workers, students, and students who frequently interact with digital screens. This phenomenon received serious attention in the field of optometry because it can affect a person's quality of life and productivity. Various factors can affect how severe DES is, such as length of screen time, lack of lighting, body position, and visibility to the screen. Therefore, a thorough assessment is needed to understand the extent to which DES affects computer users and how optometric methods can be utilized to mitigate its adverse effects. This study aims to analyze the association between the length of computer use and the level of degenerative eye syndrome (DES) in users and evaluate the effectiveness of optometrative interventions, such as the use of special corrective lenses, exposure adjustments, and recommendations for rest, in reducing DES symptoms among computer users. The method used was a cross-sectional study involving participants between the ages of 18 and 60 years. Participants include lecturers, students, and teaching staff in the ARO Leprindo environment. Data was obtained through a structured questionnaire that evaluated the duration of screen use, DES symptoms, and lifestyle factors. A thorough eye examination is carried out, including visual acuity testing, refractive assessment and analysis of the tear layer. This study emphasizes the significance of routine optometrical assessments and interventions to reduce the negative effects of excessive use of digital devices on eye health.

Abstract

The use of contact lenses has become a popular choice for vision correction. However, excessive duration of contact lens wear can affect corneal health and increase the risk of eye complications. This study aims to analyze the effect of contact lens wearing time on corneal health, especially in daily and monthly contact lens users. This research method is a descriptive-analytical study involving 37 respondents who use contact lenses with variations in the duration of use, ranging from 4 to 12 hours per day who have refractive errors and keratometer values (a tool used to measure the curvature of the front surface of the cornea) in the range H range 7.350 mm – 8.25 V 7.10 – 8.10 mm. Data were collected through eye examination using a slit-lamp and measurement of hydration and corneal oxygenation. The moisture content of contact lenses is how much water is in the lens. The higher the moisture content in the contact lenses, the more oxygen reaches the cornea during the wearing of the contact lenses. This study aims to examine the effect of contact lens wearing time on the patient's corneal health, especially from an optometry perspective. The results showed that wearing contact lenses for more than 8 hours per day was significantly correlated with increased symptoms of eye irritation, decreased corneal hydration, and decreased oxygen permeability, potentially leading to complications such as keratitis and dry eye syndrome. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of limiting the time of wearing contact lenses and regular monitoring of eye health for contact lens users to prevent serious complications of the cornea.
