Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the effect of using the discovery learning model of the students’ cognitive development on science subjects at grade IV in elementary schools. The research applied a quantitative approach with an experimental design. The research involved fourth grade students at SD Negeri 06 Karangasem. This research involved two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Tests is used as instruments in this research, namely pretest and posttest. Where the pretest is used on students before being given treatment to the two classes. While the posttest is used after the treatment is carried out. Preparation of tests based on criteria C1-C6. The research samples were classes IVA and IVB. The t test calculations obtained tcount= 6.515 and ttable= 2.000 and this means tcount>ttable. There is a significant influence on the use of the discovery learning model on the class IV students’ cognitive development on science subjects with material force on objects in SD Negeri 06 Karangasem.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Discovery Learning berbantuan media audio visual terhadap motivasi dan minat belajar Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) pada siswa kelas IV SD Gugus 4 Kecamatan Karangasem. Discovery Learning adalah metode pembelajaran yang meningkatkan cara belajar siswa agar lebih aktif dengan cara mencari maupun menemukan pengetahuannya sendiri melalui kegiatan pengamatan maupun percobaan yang dilakukan dalam proses pembelajaran dan lebih ditemukannya konsep atau prinsip yang sebelumnya tidak diketahui oleh siswa. Penelitian ini berjenis kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelompok yang diambil melalui Teknik random sampling, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode Pembelajaran discovery learning berbantuan media audio visual dan kelompok kontrol yang menerima pembelajaran konvensional. Pengukuran motivasi dan minat belajar IPAS dilakukan sebelum dan setelah intervensi menggunakan instrumen yang valid dan reliabel. Kemudian data dari hasil penelitian dilakukan analisis data dengan berbantuan SPSS versi 20.00. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Model Pembelajaran discovery learning memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi dan minat belajar siswa yaitu sebesar  0,001 < 0,5. Kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery learning menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi dan minat belajar yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensionalKata Kunci: model discovery learning, motivasi belajar, minat belajar IPASABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning Learning Model assisted by audio-visual media on the motivation and interest in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in grade IV students of Elementary School Cluster 4, Karangasem District. Discovery Learning is a learning method that improves students' learning methods to be more active by seeking or finding their own knowledge through observation or experimental activities carried out in the learning process and discovering concepts or principles that were previously unknown to students. This study is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The data collection technique in this study used pre-test and post-test. The research sample consisted of two groups, namely the experimental group that received learning using the Discovery Learning method assisted by audio-visual media and the control group that received conventional learning. Measurement of motivation and interest in learning IPAS was carried out before and after the intervention using valid and reliable instruments. The results of this study indicate that the Discovery Learning Learning Model has a significant effect on students' motivation and interest in learning, namely 0.001 <0.5. The experimental group using the Discovery Learning learning model showed a higher increase in motivation and interest in learning compared to the control group using conventional learningKeywords: discovery learning model, learning motivation, interest in learning science
