Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to make the community service of STPBI at Pura Luhur Batukau Tabanan a success, which is oriented towards expanding the benefits of tourism, especially in the study of hotel management science. In hotel management science, hospitality practices and cleanliness are factors that influence guest comfort. On the one hand, the environment of Pura Luhur Batukau looks less clean, and PKM Go Green Go Clean is carried out to reduce this comfort problem. The problems focus on: 1) What is the PKM Go Green, Go Clean at Pura Luhur Batukau Tabanan, Bali? 2) What is the meaning of hospitality in the PKM Go Green, Go Clean at Pura Luhur Batukau Tabanan, Bali?. This problem was solved using qualitative methods. All primary data was collected through interviews and participant observation in PKM Go Green, Go Clean activities. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained based on a literature study. All data was analysed qualitatively using practice theory and reception theory. The research results show: 1) PKM Go Green Go Clean was carried out in the form of community service and providing hotel cleaning equipment at Pura Luhur Batukau Tabanan, Bali. This activity was held with the participation of PKM Go Green Go Clean partners and representatives of the STPBI academic community. 2) The meaning of hospitality is manifested in the form of expressions of friendliness and friendly service. The meaning of hospitality is implied in the cleaning activities and the rest activities at Pura Luhur Batukau.

Abstract

This article aims to understand and explain the discourse on cross-cultural relations in the Bali Agung Theater at Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali. The Bali Agung Theater at Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali is an innovative Balinese performance art for tourism purposes at Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali. As a Balinese tourism performing art, there is a representation of cross-cultural relations in performance scenes featuring typical Chinese arts. The narrative discourse of the Bali Agung Theater was developed by actors based on the folklore of traditional Balinese society. The main problems: 1) What are the forms of cross-cultural relations in the Bali Agung Theater at Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali?; 2) What is the discourse on cross-cultural relations in the Bali Agung Theater at Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali?. The cross-cultural discourse analysis in the Bali Agung Theater at Taman Safari and Marine Park Bali was completed using qualitative methods. Primary data was collected through observations at the Taman Safari and interviews with actors at the Bali Agung Theater. Data achievements are complemented by secondary data collection from literature studies. All data were analyzed using knowledge-power relations theory and structuration theory. The research results show that: 1) Taman Safari & Marine Park Bali displays discourse on cross-cultural relations through Balinese cultural acculturation at the Bali Agung Theatre. Cultural acculturation can be seen in art in the form of props and dance movements; 2) The discourse on cross-cultural relations in the Bali Agung Theater consists of cultural heritage discourse, educational discourse, and violence discourse. This theatrical discourse centers on Kang Ching Wei, King, and Dewi Danu.

Abstract

In Balinese gamelan art, a new Balinese musical creation featuring kites has been introduced. While kite-flying traditions had previously existed, there had been no Balinese gamelan musical works featuring. This phenomena reflects a transformational style that involves deconstructive techniques. The concerns are: 1) What is the shape of new kite building in Balinese karawitan art activities?; 2) Are there differences in kite traditions & in Balinese karawitan art activities?; 3) What is the purpose of deconstruction of kite traditions in Balinese karawitan art activities?. A qualitative methods was applied from a cultural studies standpoint. An interdisciplinary strategy was used to collect all data, which included document studies, participant observation, and interviews with Karawitan artists. All data were analyzed qualitatively-interpretively, with consideration given to deconstruction, aesthetics, and ethnomusicology theories. The results show tha t: 1) a new construction of kite tradition elements is seen in the sound patterns of new creative karawitan music; 2) the form of kite tradition is seen in the phase preceding the realization of new creative karawitan music works with a kite theme; and 3) artistic, religious, and communicative meanings are implied in the new creative karawitan artworks as a deconstruction of the kite tradition. These discoveries help to shape karawitan art based on local wisdom and create opportunity for discussion amongst traditional cultural forms.
