Abstract

This research focuses on a qualitative approach, which describes the research process involving observation of people and their behaviors, both through oral and written communication, to generate descriptive data. The success indicators in this study are the improvement in understanding of number pattern and object configuration material among eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Mujahidi Gumukmas Jember through the utilization of graphic media. The objectives of this research are: To assess the effectiveness of using graphic media in enhancing the understanding of number pattern and object configuration material among eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Mujahidi Gumukmas Jember in the academic year 2022-2023. To identify the challenges encountered in utilizing graphic media to improve the understanding of number pattern and object configuration material among eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Mujahidi Gumukmas Jember in the academic year 2022-2023. The respondents in this research are 29 eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Mujahidi, consisting of 16 male students and 13 female students. Data collection methods employed include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of qualitative research show several significant findings. First, the use of graphic media in learning material on number patterns and object configuration at MTs Al-Mujahidi Gumukmas Jember has been implemented, although it has not yet reached optimality. In this context, Mathematics learning is carried out by involving a number of media such as laptops, computers, Infocus, pictures, learning videos, as well as presentation applications such as Power Point and Microsoft Word, both in online and offline formats.
