Abstract

This study examines strategies for increasing health accessibility in rural areas of Indonesia by addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by rural communities. The study looks at the main things that make healthcare hard to get, such as socioeconomic factors, cultural beliefs, geographical limitations, and flaws in the current healthcare delivery systems. It does this using qualitative research methods and secondary data. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and data sources, the study identifies key barriers to healthcare access and explores opportunities for promoting health equity in rural Indonesia. Findings reveal that poverty, transportation barriers, traditional healing practices, and geographic isolation significantly hinder health accessibility in rural communities. Furthermore, weaknesses within the healthcare system, such as limited resources and fragmentation, exacerbate disparities in access to quality care. However, the study also highlights opportunities for leveraging community engagement, technology, and public-private partnerships to overcome these challenges and enhance healthcare delivery in rural Indonesia. By addressing these barriers and capitalizing on available resources, policymakers can develop tailored strategies to improve health accessibility and promote equitable healthcare outcomes in rural areas. Abstract

This research explores the pivotal role of defense contractors in shaping defense policy and their significant impact on national security dynamics. Using qualitative research methods, with an emphasis on secondary data analysis, the study synthesizes findings from government reports, academic literature, and industry analyses. Key findings reveal the considerable influence of defense contractors’ lobbying activities on defense budget allocations and procurement policies, often redirecting resources toward projects that align with their technological expertise and profit motives. Additionally, defense contractors play a crucial role in shaping defense research and development priorities, driving innovation in areas such as cybersecurity, missile defense systems, and unmanned technologies. Ethically, the revolving door phenomenon between defense contractors and government officials raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest, undermining impartial decision-making and public trust. This research offers a comprehensive understanding of the strategic implications of contractor influence on defense policy, highlighting the need for greater transparency, accountability, and balanced competition in defense procurement. By illuminating these dynamics, the study contributes to policy discussions aimed at promoting ethical governance and ensuring the integrity of national security.

Abstract

Medical waste management in healthcare facilities is a critical issue in Indonesia due to its significant impact on public health and the environment. This study evaluates medical waste management practices and compliance levels by analyzing secondary data, including government reports, academic studies, and policy documents. The research method used was qualitative, utilizing secondary data, including peer-reviewed articles from databases such as ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scopus, as well as relevant government and non-governmental organization (NGO) reports. The analysis resulted in three main findings: (1) Medical Waste Management Practices: mapping the actual condition of medical waste management in healthcare facilities; (2) Policy and Implementation Gaps, indicating a lack of regulatory oversight and enforcement; and (3) Diverse Operational Challenges: covering limited institutional capacity, staff training, resources, and awareness of the importance of medical waste management. Multifaceted strategies, including strengthening the regulatory framework, improving staff education and training, and allocating adequate resources, are recommended to address these challenges. This study offers concrete recommendations to improve the effectiveness of medical waste management in health facilities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Defense policies, traditionally focused on national security, have extensive implications for a country's socio-economic structure, influencing quality of life, poverty, and inequality. This research aims to explore the complex relationship between defense spending and these socio-economic outcomes across different contexts. Using a qualitative approach, the study utilizes secondary data from academic journals, government reports, and policy documents to analyze how defense policies impact various socio-economic groups. The findings reveal that in wealthier nations, defense spending can stimulate economic growth but often exacerbates social inequality due to the unequal distribution of benefits. In contrast, in less wealthy nations, high military expenditure typically comes at the expense of essential public services, leading to increased poverty and poorer health outcomes. The study also highlights the critical role of governance in mediating these effects, with strong institutions ensuring more equitable outcomes. In conclusion, defense policies have a profound impact on socio-economic conditions, and a context-specific approach is essential to ensure that national security investments do not undermine social welfare. Keywords: defense policy, inequality, poverty, quality of life, socio-economic impact

Abstract

Maintaining a balance between work and personal life (work-life balance) is a significant challenge for healthcare professionals, especially in hospitals with shift-based schedules and high workloads. This imbalance can lead to stress, burnout, and reduced productivity, ultimately affecting the quality of patient care. This study aims to explore how work-life balance impacts the productivity of medical personnel at Dr. Mintoharjo Naval Hospital. A qualitative approach was employed, using secondary data analysis drawn from academic journals, research reports, and institutional publications to identify key influencing factors. Findings indicate that excessive workload, lack of social and institutional support, and limited access to mental health resources are major barriers to achieving balance. However, hospital policies such as flexible work schedules, psychological support services, and the integration of technology in administrative management have been shown to improve medical personnel’s well-being. In conclusion, hospitals that prioritize work-life balance for their healthcare workers not only enhance their productivity but also improve the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.

Abstract

Nutritional management of hospitalized patients is critical for improving the quality of hospital services. The Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 26 of 2013 established standards for hospital nutrition management; however, its implementation has not been fully documented through digital systems. This study aimed to examine the application of information systems for inpatient nutrition management based on Regulation No. 26/2013. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using content analysis of secondary data, including policy documents, nutrition unit reports, and outputs from hospital nutrition information systems in a Type B hospital from 2021 to 2023. The hospital was selected purposively based on the criterion of using a nutrition information system for a minimum of two years. The results showed that most components of the nutrition care strategy, such as initial assessment and diet provision, complied with regulatory standards, with over 80% of patients assessed within 24 h and 92,5% of diets appropriately provided. However, digital documentation of nutrition interventions and evaluations remained suboptimal (<40%), mainly because of manual recordkeeping, high workload, and limited training. In conclusion, although progress has been made in the implementation of nutrition management strategies, significant gaps remain in digital documentation. Strengthening information systems, improving human resource capacity through training, and routine monitoring are necessary to ensure compliance with the national standards.
