Abstract

This study examines the effects of various digital marketing strategies, including social media advertising, celebrity endorsements, and influencer marketing, on consumer purchase intentions within the Indonesian cosmetics industry, with a specific focus on the Scarlett cosmetics brand. In the ever-evolving digital landscape characterized by intense competition, understanding the most effective marketing techniques deployed on social media platforms is crucial. The study employs a qualitative research methodology, utilizing a case study framework with three informants as the primary subjects. In-depth interviews were conducted, guided by research objectives and contextual background. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed qualitatively to identify patterns, themes, and perspectives emerging from the informants' insights. The findings provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of each digital marketing tactic in influencing consumer purchase intentions. Notably, this qualitative methodology facilitates a deeper understanding of how digital marketing tactics impact real-world consumer intentions. The informants' practical insights shed light on the underlying meanings and contexts of the research outcomes. This study serves as a foundation for organizations seeking to select the most suitable digital marketing methods to enhance consumer purchase intentions, particularly on the Instagram platform. It is essential to acknowledge the limitations of this research, primarily its exclusive focus on the cosmetics industry in Indonesia. Future research initiatives should aim to explore variations across different social media platforms and expand the geographical scope to achieve a more comprehensive comprehension of the subject matter.

Abstract

In the last few decades, communication technology has undergone rapid advancements that significantly impact the consumption patterns of digital media in modern society. This research employs the behavioral communication theory perspective developed by John Broadus Watson to delve deeper into the influence of communication technology on the consumption patterns of digital media among modern society. The research findings highlight that communication technology plays a crucial role in shaping the consumption patterns of digital media in modern society. One notable impact is the increased time spent consuming digital media content. The primary driving factor for this increase is the stimulus provided by the availability of diverse and engaging digital content. Additionally, the shift in the types of content consumed is also a result of the influence of communication technology. Modern society tends to respond to stimuli such as the need for information and education by consuming relevant and beneficial digital media content. Furthermore, the research notes an increase in social interaction through digital media as a consequence of technological advancements in communication. This can be explained as a response to the societal need to stay connected with others. With the existence of digital media platforms, social interaction is no longer confined by geographical limitations, allowing individuals to communicate and share experiences virtually. Consequently, it can be concluded that communication technology plays a central role in transforming the consumption patterns of digital media in modern society. The increased consumption time, changes in content types, and the heightened social interaction through digital media serve as tangible evidence of the positive and transformative impact of communication technology development in meeting the demands and needs of modern society.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi telah mengubah cara individu berinteraksi, berkomunikasi, dan memperoleh informasi. Dalam konteks Indonesia, platform digital telah menjadi sarana penting untuk mendorong partisipasi publik dan memastikan keterbukaan serta inklusivitas ruang partisipatif. Konsep "Openness of Participatory Space" menjadi fokus utama dalam memahami bagaimana platform digital dapat digunakan untuk memperluas partisipasi masyarakat dalam diskusi publik. Dengan menganalisis teori demokrasi partisipatif, keadilan sosial, dan komunikasi publik, makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tantangan dan peluang dalam memastikan ruang partisipatif digital yang terbuka dan inklusif di Indonesia. Melalui studi kasus pemanfaatan platform digital seperti Kitabisa.com, kita dapat melihat bagaimana masyarakat Indonesia aktif terlibat dalam isu-isu sosial dan politik melalui crowdfunding dan proyek sosial lainnya. Dengan demikian, pemahaman konsep Openness of Participatory Space menjadi kunci dalam memperkuat partisipasi publik melalui media digital di Indonesia.
