Abstract

Death is a very close thing in human life, even a certain thing. It is impossible to predict when this death will occur. Therefore, death is also part of a mysterious phenomenon that occurs repeatedly with the same subject, namely people. The saying that the closest friend is dead. Sooner or later, willingly, or not, every human being will experience death that no one can avoid. When it comes to reacting to death, some people are afraid, some are worried, and some sincerely accept it. This article uses descriptive – analysis using Zur Theologie des Todes – ‘On the Theology of Death,’ published in 1958. Karl Rahner developed his theological approach to death. Death, according to Rahner, is an event that affects the whole human being, not just the body, while the immortal soul remains fundamentally intact. According to the Buddhist concept, death is the end of suffering. Birth, dissatisfaction, pain, and dissatisfaction, are suffering in life. So, death is a possible way to reduce pain Death, which is seen as the end of one's life, should be seen as an act in itself. Rahner interprets fulfillment as belonging to death itself. Nonetheless, Rahner's theory, like Augustine's, continues to evolve, and his treatment of the "liberty of the sick," if wrong, offers an important addition to moral meditation on the issue of the end of life. Dalam Zur Theologie des Todes – On the Theology of Death, diterbitkan pada tahun 1958, Karl Rahner mengembangkan pendekatan teologisnya sendiri terhadap kematian.

Abstract

Background: Water is a fundamental human resource, and ensuring its safety is essential for public health, especially in residential settings such as boarding houses. Water contamination can pose significant risks to residents’ well-being. This study focuses on exploring the water quality at a boarding house located on Bangka Street, South Jakarta, considering the importance of water clarity, taste, odor, and the infrastructure that supports water distribution. Methods: This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews and field observations. Data were collected directly from the boarding house owner and several residents to understand their perspectives and experiences regarding water usage and quality. Observations focused on water clarity, smell, taste, and the physical condition of the water infrastructure. Findings: The results show that the boarding house's water quality is generally clean, clear, and odorless—meeting national standards for safe water. However, an incident was reported in which excessive water use by a resident led to flooding and temporarily murky water. In response, the owner promptly drained the water tank and replaced outdated water pumps to restore water quality. These actions demonstrate the owner’s proactive maintenance and strong hygiene awareness. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of regular water system monitoring, immediate responsiveness to water-related issues, and the collaboration between property managers and residents in maintaining water quality. Subjective perspectives reveal that a sense of shared responsibility and consistent maintenance are vital in ensuring access to clean and safe water in communal residential settings. Novelty/Originality of this article: This research contributes original insights into water quality management in small-scale residential environments. It highlights the value of community-level engagement and practical hygiene practices, combining lived experiences with public health standards to promote safe water access in boarding houses—a relatively underexplored area in academic literature.

Abstract

Background: Flooding is a disaster that continues to be faced by Indonesia. Every year, floods inevitably occur. From year to year, the number of floods continues to increase. This is why we conducted a study on residents’ knowledge regarding flood prevention in their environment. Methods: This research aims to evaluate the knowledge of Tomang residents about flood prevention methods using a qualitative approach, employing semi-structured interviews and observation techniques. Findings: Through this process, the research findings show that the people of Tomang possess varying levels of knowledge regarding flood prevention. Most residents are already aware of the importance of maintaining drainage systems and managing waste, although they face various challenges in fully implementing these preventive measures. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that more intensive education and outreach, along with greater involvement and active participation of the community in flood prevention programs, can help prevent flood disasters in the area. Based on these findings, we hope that this information can serve as a foundation for flood prevention and risk reduction at the local level. Novelty/Originality of this article: The novelty/originality of this article lies in evaluating Tomang residents’ knowledge of flood prevention using a qualitative approach, revealing implementation gaps despite their relatively good awareness.
