Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison of community responsibility in Code Tourism Village and Kali Gajahwong Tourism Village with a pro-poor tourism (PPT) approach. The two tourist villages started as a slum riverbank area and then turned into a tourist destination. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method with data collection through observation, literature study, and in-depth interview.  The results of the study showed  differences in the degree of responsibility of people living in Code and Kali Gajahwong tourism villages from PPT perspective to achieve sustainable tourism. Nonetheless, the two tourist villages practice responsible tourism by prioritizing the interests of the environmental ecosystem while preserving the existence of local culture. The PPT approach reveals that there are differences in the degree of independence, the number of tourist visits, utilization of technology, and the psychological conditions of local communities when implementing tourism activities in Kali Gajah Wong and Code.

Abstract

This research explores the concept of Digital Free Tourism (DFT) in the context of 'experiencing museum' in Ullen Sentalu. This study aims to analyze the application of the DFT concept in Ullen Sentalu Museum, Yogyakarta, as well as its implications for the museum's tourism experience. This research uses qualitative methods with an exploratory study approach conducted with data collection methods, namely observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies collected from journals, books, articles, and also the Ullen Sentalu museum page. The results of this study found that the Ullen Sentalu Museum successfully applied the DFT concept by controlling the use of on-site technology during museum tours to maintain the safety of the collection and create a more immersive 'museum experience' and increase visitor curiosity and wellbeing. Ullen Sentalu also does not reject digital utilization but continues to innovate by optimizing digital content during pre-site and post-site to reflect his commitment to be relevant in the digital era while maintaining traditional values in DFT.

Abstract

The massive development of tourism in Komodo National Park (KNP) has had a signi;icant impact on the local community there, in this case the Ata Modo Tribe. This tribe is a local tribe that has remained silent for a long time and was formed on Komodo Island long before the Komodo National Park was established. They have also lived side by side with the endangered Komodo dragon for decades and tried to maintain their culture and customs amidst the existence of KNP tourism development. This research tries to answer what cultural potential is still maintained by the Ata Modo Tribe, the position of the Ata Modo Tribe as a Customary Law Community unit, as well as the socio-economic, cultural and environmental impacts that occur amidst KNP tourism hegemony. The study in this research uses a type of socio-legal research. Various primary and secondary data were formulated and analyzed to obtain descriptive conclusions for each problem formulation question. The research results obtained are ;irst that the Ata Modo tribe has cultural potential in accordance with the seven elements of culture consisting of language, knowledge system, social organization, technology, livelihood system, belief system and art. Second, the absence of recognition and determination of the Ata Modo Tribe as a Customary Law Community unit through legal products at the regional level provides opportunities for conflicts of interest and override of their customary rights. Third, the Ata Modo tribe has transformed coercively due to the existence of KNP tourism. Regulations established as a means of conservation of the Komodo National Park encourage a coercive transformation of the culture of the Ata Modo people. Abstract

This study examined the ethical concerns related to profit-driven voluntourism, specifically highlighting Project Bakti Millenial #6 in Banda Neira. The study sought to elucidate the ethical issues and obstacles inherent in voluntourism, emphasizing the intricacies of merging voluntary activity with commercially-driven tourism activities, which was termed a 'voluntrap'. This study offered a comprehensive examination of the ethical implications and repercussions of such programs and delivered a critical analysis of Project Bakti Millenial #6 as a case study. This research revealed that the complexities stemming from the commercialization of voluntourism underscore ethical concerns, including deceptive claims, information manipulation, and business practices that commodify social activities, thereby necessitating a heightened sense of responsibility in fulfilling the altruistic objectives of voluntourism. Organizing voluntourism necessitates the active involvement of local communities, financial transparency, ethical education, partnership with qualified entities, and enhanced communication to assure sustainability, foster trust, and prevent future issues.
