Abstract

Sociology is a science that studies human relations with humans. Sociology as a science that studies humans emerged later than other sciences. Max Weber as a western sociologist who has studied the eastern world as the object of his study is considered to have a lot of ethnocentric content, namely eurocentric. This has implications for the creation of a reflection of Europe, namely the east, which Weber describes eloquently. Although at first Weber tried to explain the process of change in Western Europe, but it became an object of studying the east as the other or the other of Europe. As a methodological tool, the author uses library research. In this study, the writer finds a number of identifications of entocentrism in Max Weber's sociology in primary and secondary sources. The results of this study indicate that the ethnocentrism attributed to Europe which in the course of history will lead to major problems that Weber did not calculate, such as colonialism and imperialism.

Abstract

This study explores the acculturation of Islam and Javanese culture manifested through the Ronda Tetek Tradition in Gombang Village, Sawit District, Boyolali District, Central Java. Initially employed for night patrols, Rontek has evolved into traditional musical instruments and ceremonial practices. Over time, it has acquired an Islamic dimension, transforming into a musical accompaniment for Qasidah or Islamic poems. Employing qualitative methods, including participant observation and in-depth interviews, this research investigates the integration of Islamic and Javanese cultural elements in the Rontek tradition. The findings reveal that Rontek in Gombang Village has undergone acculturation with Islamic traditions, giving rise to a distinctive synthesis known as Javanese Islam. Despite its antiquity, Rontek continues to maintain its allure in Gombang Village, preserving local traditions while embracing Islamic influences.

Abstract

Today, religious moderation is the mainstream in building tolerance among religious communities. Various dimensions of life are deemed necessary to internalize the values of religious moderation. Education is one of the various dimensions of life targeted by Religious Moderation. The issue of religion and the flow of adherents is also an interesting study in Religious Moderation. This is because adherents are also recognized as citizens who have the same rights as adherents of other religions. In this article, we will explain how Religious Moderation responds to the flow of adherents in the educational dimension. Using a qualitative research model through library research that relies on the Semarang Social and Religious Studies Institute's Annual Report Book for 2020 and 2021. The data analysis technique in this article uses the induction method. By referring to specific facts that eliminate the basic assumptions of a theory. The results of the research presented in this article state that there is still a lot of discrimination experienced by adherents in the educational dimension. Even though there are regulations that regulate this. Also, the Religious Moderation movement wants to create an inclusive and tolerant society but still, the results are not optimal.
