DEVELOPING MONOPOLY HANDBOOK BASED ON COGNITIVE THEORY FOR STUDENTS’ PRE-INTERMEDIATE SPEAKING OF POJOKREJO ENGLISH COURSE dewi, fatqu

Abstract

Pre-intermediate-level students must continuously improve their speaking ability through the learning process based on their needs and level, like the learning process of cognitive theory. It is because the students already had their experiences of learning to speak. Therefore, this research aimed to develop Monopoly Handbook based on cognitive theory for students’ pre-intermediate speaking of Pojokrejo English Course and determine their perceptions of Monopoly Handbook as instructional media for speaking learning. Research and development model was the methodology employed in this research. The development of Monopoly Handbook was arranged by the learning process of cognitive theory with characteristics: using simple to complex patterns, focusing on the process than the result, and providing stimulated things to explore their understanding, becoming abstract ideas and thoughts. The product passed through validation to examine its effectiveness by material and design media experts. It was a “good” qualification, meaning the product could be used for revisions, with a score of 3,10 for the material and 3,04 for design media. The revisions were done, and it was tried out by eight pre-intermediate students at Pojokrejo English Course. The questionnaire was instrumented by Google Form to determine students' perceptions of the effectiveness of Monopoly Handbook for learning pre-intermediate speaking. The chart of recapped results showed that Monopoly Handbook had to revise its instructions and access codes. It was supported by the researcher’s view as the teacher during the try-out. The revisions passed its perfection of the effectiveness of producing instructional media in improving speaking ability, and it covered students’ interests and motivation.

Abstract

Saling tolong-menolong, saling menghargai, adanya pengakuan terhadap hak-hak individu, munculnya simpati, empati dan kepedulian sosial serta segala bentuk tindakan sosial yang banyak kita saksikan dalam aktivitas keseharian kita adalah manifestasi dari cita-cita mulia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan manusia tersebut. Makanya pranata sosial yang terbangun dalam masyarakat (community) harus dapat menciptakan keteraturan sosial, menjamin stabilitas sosial, jaminan rasa aman yang di peroleh setiap anggota masyarakat, menciptakan suasana yang nyaman dan tentram serta jaminan keselamatan lain. Program pengabdian ini berdasarkan diskusi bersama para perangkat desa dan ditemukan beberapa masalah dibidang Pendidikan, bidang Keagamaan, bidang Ekonomi dan peningkatan produksi, bidang sosial budaya dan Lingkungan Hidup. Sifat penelitian ini adalah studi lapangan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Penelitian lapangan adalah suatu metode penelitian dimana peneliti terjun langsung ke lapangan atau lokasi yang diteliti untuk memperoleh data-data yang diperlukan, terutama data yang berkaitan dengan masalah yang diteliti. Metode penelitian deskriptif mengumpulkan data berupa kata-kata dan gambar yang diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumen.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the learning using the drilling vocabulary method in teaching speaking at the Egypt class of Mazroatul Lughoh Islamic Boarding School Pare Kediri. The approach of this study was qualitative research. It involved me as the researcher, the education of Mazroatul Lughoh, and eight students of the Egypt Class of Mazroatul Lughoh Islamic Boarding School Pare Kediri. The steps of this study were survey, planning the actions, implementing and observing the actions, and reflecting on the actions done. The data of this study was qualitative. The qualitative data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process. The data were collected in the form of field notes and questionnaire transcripts. To ensure trustworthiness, investigators, time, and theoretical triangulation were used. Democratic, process, outcome, catalytic, and dialogic validity were also employed to meet the validity and reliability of the data. The research findings showed that the drilling vocabulary method in teaching speaking had many benefits in learning to speak in the classroom. The drilling vocabulary method constituted a method that applied repetition in pronouncing some vocabulary with the correct pronunciation and articulation. It also gave the Indonesian translation and practice with the topic related to the vocabulary.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate how family pressure affects students' delinquent behavior at school. The subject of the study consisted of a student who exhibited such delinquent behavior. The findings obtained from this study indicate that family pressure has a significant impact on students' delinquent behavior. Therefore, the results of this study show how important the role of parents and families is in helping to overcome students' delinquent behavior at MAN 4 KEDIRI school. Home is the first and foremost environment that shapes a child's character and attitude. This study also focuses on analyzing the influence of the family environment on the development of children's personality, by paying attention to the interaction between parents and children and parenting patterns at home which are considered important in the growth of children's character and personality. The method used by this study is a qualitative method with a literature study approach. From the results of the study, it was found that the quality of the family environment is closely related to the good character of the child. This study aims to analyze how teachers try to solve family environmental problems that have an impact on students' learning motivation.
