Abstract

The learning media developed is media to improve the cognitive abilities of children aged 4-5 years at TK Muslimat NU Gintangan Blimbingsari Banyuwangi. This research aims to develop and produce products that are suitable for use to stimulate children's cognitive abilities. This type of research is the Research and Develomen (R&D) model of Borg and Gall. Of the 10 existing development steps, only 8 development steps were taken, namely 1) information collection, 2) planning, 3) initial product development, 4) trials by validation experts 5) product revisions, 6) field tests, 7) product revision II, 8) field trials. The subjects involved in this study were 1 media expert validator, 1 class teacher and 16 students. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and tests. The data analysis technique used in this study is feasibility analysis using likert scale. Based on the results of validation by media experts and product trials, it can be concluded that kompor pintar media can be said to be very feasible to use. While in the effectiveness test, kompor pintar media was tested to be effective in improving children's cognitive abilities, this can be seen from the comparison of the average value obtained by children at the first meeting, which was 2.6, the second meeting increased to 2.9 and in the third meeting increased to 3.6.

Abstract

Based on observations made on children aged 4-5 years in Khadijah Tegalyasan Kindergarten, Tegalarum Village, Sempu District, obtained data that the ability to write vowels in children has not developed properly optimal. This requires handling steps so that the ability of students in Khadijah Tegalyasan Kindergarten, Tegalarum Village, Sempu District can develop. An alternative handling in this study is to create media in the form of guide writing media based on tracing. This study aims to (1) know the steps for developing guide writing media based on tracing in improving the ability to write vowels in children aged 4-5 years, (2) find out the feasibility of guide writing media based on tracing for children aged 4-5 years. This development research uses the Borg and Gall model by taking 8 development steps. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the Likert scale by calculating the average of the number of values obtained. The subjects involved in this study were 1 material and media expert, 1 class teacher and 28 students. The results of this study are as follows, (1) the Borg and Gall development model used only takes 8 development steps. The media is made in the form of a guide board that contains material or letter symbols as a guide and learning guide for children. (2) The media was tested to be effective for improving the writing skills of children aged 4-5 years through operational tests by comparing the results of scores obtained by children at the first to last meeting with an average score of 3.5.

Abstract

In the context of 21st-century mathematics education, the ability to construct andutilise mathematical representations is fundamental to successful problem solving, particularly for future elementary school teachers. However, the role of individualpersonality traits—especially the dichotomy between Thinking and Feeling types, asdefined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)—remains underexplored as afactor influencing representational strategies. This study addresses a critical researchgap by examining how these personality types affect the process of mathematicalproblem-solving. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with an intrinsic case studydesign, the research involved two prospective primary school teachers with distinctMBTI profiles. Data were collected through MBTI questionnaires, problem-solvingtasks, and task-based interviews, then analysed using thematic coding aligned withPolya’s problem-solving steps. The findings reveal distinct differences in the types andstructures of representations used: Thinking-type participants favoured symbolic andlogical representations. In contrast, Feeling-type participants relied more on intuitiveand narrative forms. These results highlight the impact of personality on cognitiveprocesses in mathematical reasoning. This paper contributes new insights to theintersection of mathematics education and personality psychology, with implicationsfor differentiated instruction in teacher education programs.
