Abstract

Heavy metal is a genre of music with fast beats and guitar sounds with distortion effects coupled with scream vocals that seem loud and aggressive. The way of dressing and the symbols used by musicians and metal music fans have their own uniqueness which is considered to deviate from local understanding and culture which is thick with the value of modesty. This research aims to identify and analyze the lifestyle and symbols of the Grief Blozzom heavy metal music community in Pekanbaru city. This research uses qualitative research methods. Data collection was carried out in this study in the form of direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Grief Blozzom metal music community in Pekanbaru city in its activities are involved in podcasts, sharing sessions, meetings between members and concerts to gain knowledge capital, social capital, economic and symbolic capital. In the use of their free time, members of the Grief Blozzom heavy metal music community use their free time by exploring and listening to heavy metal music and hanging out to increase their knowledge capital and social capital. The finger symbol means the identity of the band concept which is manifested through the use of the finger symbol. Merchandise worn by heavy metal music fans means the identity of the metal music subgenre they like and a form of pride as a heavy metal music fan. Dance in enjoying heavy metal music is interpreted as communication between the audience and musicians to get each other more excited in the dance. Abstract

This research was conducted in Ganting Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency with the aim of: 1) Knowing how the Tanah Soko property rights are regulated and 2) How women view the Tanah Soko property rights arrangement. This research was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were selected as many as 3 main informants, namely indigenous women who became heirs of Tanah Soko and 3 key informants, namely Kampar historians and cultural observers, village officials, and Ninik Mamak. The data analysis technique in this study was carried out through a data re duction process, presentation of data, and drawing conclusions. The theory used in this research is from Talcot Parsons, namely the AGIL theory (Adaptation, Goal, Integration, and Latency). The results of the research show that in the Kampar community's inheritance system, especially the Ganting Village community, adheres to a matrilineal system, namely an inheritance system based on the mother's lineage. Tanah Soko is a form of Tanah Ulayat whose inheritance is given only to women from generation to generation, and may not be sold. Tanah Soko is also called tribal land. The arrangement of Tanah Soko ownership rights in the Ganting Village community can be seen from the existence of statutory and customary arrangements. Keywords : Tanah Soko, Society, Kampar

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Riau University, Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this research is to find out: 1) what is the motivation of students to choose the Department of Sociology at FISIP UNRI, 2) What are the dominant factors in determining the choice of major for sociology students class of 2022 at FISIP, Riau University?. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, questionnaires, and documentation. This study used simple random sampling, where there were 46 respondents. The data analysis technique in this study was descriptive quantitative using SPSS version 23. The results of the research on student motivation in choosing a sociology major can be seen that because of the need for achievement, every individual wants to excel in any way. There is a need for power, because it has become the greatest human desire to rule, and a need for affiliation, because human beings are social creatures who need to make friends, interact and socialize. The results of the study of the factors determining the selection of majors that affect student motivation in choosing a sociology major can be seen that there are 5 factors that influence it, namely parents, peers, environment, gender (gender), individual personality characteristics..
