Abstract

This study aims to examine the social skills of teachers in fostering a culture of polite students at Al-Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School Ibru Muaro Jambi because there are still problems with social skills of teachers in fostering a culture of polite students in this Islamic boarding school. The main problem in this study is why the teacher's skills are not optimal in fostering a culture of polite students? This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical nature. The results of this study indicate that the polite culture of students at the Al-Muttaqin Ibru Muaro Jambi Islamic Boarding School is not all positive, because there are still students who practice less commendable morals such as dating, smoking, violating Islamic boarding school rules, lazy to worship, lying, not practicing toyyibah sentences and so on. etc. The teacher's social skills in fostering a polite culture of students in Islamic boarding schools is not optimal, even though there are cultural standards, habituation activities, exemplary, advice, strengthening religious education in Islamic boarding schools, teacher cooperation with other teachers and parents, using various opportunities in educating morals, enforce discipline. However, all of these activities are not planned and monitored continuously. Aspects supporting teacher social skills in fostering a polite culture of students are the commitment of teachers and leaders in building a polite culture. While the obstacles are that discipline is still weak, and teacher communication with other teachers is still not effective. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kecakapan sosial guru dalam membina budaya santun santri di Pondok Pesantren Al-Muttaqin Ibru Muaro Jambi disebabkan masih ditemukan masalah kecakapan sosial guru dalam membina budaya santun santri di pesantren ini. Persoalan utama dalam penelitian ini adalah mengapa kecakapan guru belum optimal membina budaya santun santri? Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif bersifat deskriptif analitis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa budaya santun santri di Ponpes Al-Muttaqin Ibru Muaro Jambi tidak semuanya positif, sebab masih ditemukan santri yang melakukan akhlak kurang terpuji seperti pacaran, merokok, melanggaran tata tertib pesantren, malas beribadah, berbohong, kurang mengamalkan kalimat toyyibah dan lain sebagainya. Kecakapan sosial guru dalam membina budaya santun santri di pesantren ini belum optimal, meskipun sudah ada standar budaya, kegiatan pembiasaan, keteladanan, nasehat, memantapkan pendidikan agama di pesantren, kerja sama guru dengan guru lain dan orang tua, menggunakan berbagai kesempatan dalam mendidik akhlak, menegakkan disiplin. Namun semua aktivitas ini kurang direncanakan dan diawasi secara terus menerus. Aspek pendukung kecakapan sosial guru dalam membina budaya santun santri adalah komitmen guru dan pimpinan dalam membangun budaya santun. Sedangkan penghambat adalah disiplin masih lemah, dan komunikasi guru dengan guru lainnya masih belum efektif.
