Abstract

Based on data from the World Health Organization or WHO and the Central Statistics Agency, the use of contraceptives in 2022 will increase. It is recorded that in 2022 there are around 55.36% of fertile couples using these contraceptives, an increase of 0.30% from 2021. One of the commonly used contraceptive methods is the implant method which is included in the long-term contraceptive method. This method will be applied to the subdermal area containing progestin with a fairly long acting. In addition, the dose is low and reversible for women. The effectiveness of the use of implant contraception is quite high. And can be used in the long term and restore the fertility rate of women who will quickly return and affect the hormone estrogen. This research was conducted to find out and obtain data and information regarding the relationship between weight gain and changes in the menstrual cycle that occur in women using implant contraception in the Pematang Cengal area, Tanjung Pura District. The population in this study were KB Implant acceptors who were in the area. The research method used in this study used group data collection from a population of around 50 people. It is hoped that respondents and informants can obtain information regarding the relationship between weight gain and changes in the menstrual cycle.

Abstract

Breast milk is the best nutrition for babies, especially during the first six months of life, playing an important role in boosting immunity, preventing stunting, and accelerating postpartum recovery in mothers. However, exclusive breastfeeding coverage remains low, with one of the causes being barriers to milk production during the early postpartum period. Non-pharmacological interventions such as breast care, prolactin acupressure, and oxytocin massage can stimulate hormones involved in breast milk production and ejection, but comprehensive studies comparing the three methods are still limited. This study aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of breast care, prolactin acupressure, and oxytocin massage in increasing breast milk volume in postpartum mothers. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 60 postpartum mothers aged 0–7 days who met the inclusion criteria, then divided into four groups with 15 respondents each. The intervention was conducted over three days using standard procedures for breast care, prolactin acupressure, and oxytocin massage. Breast milk volume was measured on the fourth postpartum day using an electric pump for 15 minutes. Data analysis included normality tests, one-way ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey HSD. The results showed significant differences between groups (F = 86.342, p < 0.01). Oxytocin massage resulted in the highest breast milk volume and was significantly different compared to breast care (p < 0.001) and prolactin acupressure (p = 0.019), while breast care and prolactin acupressure were not significantly different (p = 0.561). These findings emphasize the importance of oxytocin stimulation in the let-down reflex and recommend oxytocin massage as the primary non-pharmacological intervention to support breast milk production.

Abstract

Postpartum blues syndrome is a mild emotional disorder experienced by mothers after giving birth. This disorder can affect the emotional well-being of the mother and her relationship with the baby. Postpartum exercise therapy and a healthy diet are believed to reduce the symptoms of postpartum blues syndrome. This study aims to analyze the effects of postpartum exercise and a healthy diet on the recovery of baby blues syndrome in postpartum mothers. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pre- and post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 37 postpartum mothers who were divided into an intervention group (postpartum exercise and a healthy diet) and a control group. Data were collected using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire to measure maternal depression symptoms before and after the intervention. Data analysis was performed using t-tests and multivariate tests. Results: The results showed a significant decrease in depression symptoms in the group that received the intervention compared to the control group (P<0.001). The depression symptoms score decreased by an average of 3.74 in the intervention group that followed postpartum exercise, while a healthy diet contributed to a decrease in depression symptoms with an average reduction of 2.32. Conclusion: Postpartum exercise and a healthy diet can significantly reduce the symptoms of postpartum blues syndrome. Therefore, postpartum exercise and a healthydiet are recommended as routine therapy for postpartum mothers.
