Abstract

A stroke can have a physical and psychological impact, as well as infection due to blockage or rupture of blood vessels which can affect the body's immune system. The body's immune system that can be influenced by infection includes leukocytes and body temperature. This research method uses non-experimental correlational-cross-sectional. The population of this study is all adult patients who have had a stroke and are hospitalized in the stroke unit of the Regional Hospital. Dr. Soedomo Trenggalek with a sample size of 30 respondents met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Normality test data analysis using Kolmogorov Smirnov, bivariate analysis of unpaired groups using the Man-Whitney test with a significance level ≤ 0.05. The results showed that there was no significant difference in leukocyte values between hemorrhagic and non-hemorrhagic stroke patients (p) 0.902 > 0.05 and no significant difference in body temperature (p) 0.512 > 0.05 between hemorrhagic and non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. This study concludes that in hemorrhagic stroke patients and hemorrhagic stroke, there is no significant difference in the value of the infectious immune system in terms of the results of blood leukocyte examination and body temperature.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that requires special attention because a stroke can have fatal consequences due to functional brain disorders which can occur suddenly. One of the nursing actions for stroke patients is monitoring blood pressure with the aim of early detection to prevent the risk of recurrent stroke. Blood pressure measurements can be carried out on extremities that experience weakness and those that do not experience weakness. The research aims to determine the difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure measurements in stroke patients between extremities that experience weakness and those that do not experience weakness. The research design used was quantitative descriptive. The population used was 86 stroke patients in the Stroke Unit of RSUD dr. Soedomo Trenggalek with a total sample of 46 stroke patients using a purposive sampling method. The analysis used is descriptive frequency distribution. The results of the study showed that from 46 respondents who were measured based on the difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure between the extremities that experienced weakness and the extremities that did not experience weakness, it showed that the majority of 28 stroke patients (61%) had no difference in systolic blood pressure, while the majority for diastolic blood pressure was 35 ( 76.1%) There is also no difference between the extremities that experience weakness and those that do not experience weakness. The conclusion of the results of this study is that there is no difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure values in stroke patients between the extremities that experience weakness and those that do not experience weakness.

Abstract

Stroke or Cerebral Vascular Disease (CVD) is a disease that often causes death and disability, both in urban and rural areas. The impact of a stroke includes paralysis of the limbs, impaired vision, difficulty speaking and swallowing, and psychological impacts such as frustration and irritability. Stroke can also cause neurological deficits that have an impact on the patient's quality of life. Data from World Health Organization (WHO) shows that 75.6% of elderly people who experience stroke require home care, which has a positive impact on patient recovery. In Trenggalek Regency, the incidence of stroke reached 3,771 people in 2019. Early proper handling can improve the patient's condition, and the community needs to be educated to recognize stroke symptoms. In order to increase public awareness and knowledge about early detection of stroke, this Community Service activity aims to train community cadres in detecting stroke symptoms early. The method used is Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and training for community cadres who care about stroke, this method is very effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of cadre participants about early detection of stroke after receiving training materials, the cadre's knowledge and skills increased significantly, from 5 cadres (42%) who were initially in the good category and 7 cadres (58%) in the sufficient category, to all or 12 cadres (100%) whose knowledge and skills increased in the good category. This community empowerment can change the attitudes and behavior of participants from not knowing to knowing, from knowing to wanting, and finally being able to carry out early detection of stroke and can be disseminated to the community. This activity will contribute to improving the health and quality of life of the Trenggalek community.

Abstract

Stroke can cause mobility disorders or motor disorders, visual disturbances, speech disorders, emotional changes, and other symptoms according to the location of the brain that is blocked. Motor deficits in stroke patients can affect independence in carrying out daily activities and cause patients to experience self-care deficits or dependence on others who require continuous nursing assistance in carrying out daily activities. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of independence of stroke patients in the Stroke Unit Room of Dr. Soedomo Trenggalek Hospital. The research design used was quantitative descriptive. The population in the study was 42 stroke patients with a sample size of 29 respondents. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data analysis in this study used a frequency distribution in the form of a percentage. The results showed that the independence of stroke patients from 29 patients while being treated in the hospital experienced dependence in carrying out daily activities, namely 2 respondents (7%) experienced total dependence, 7 respondents (24%) experienced severe dependence, 7 respondents (24%) experienced moderate dependence, and 13 patients (45%) experienced mild dependence. The conclusion of the study showed that stroke patients experienced impaired independence dependence that must be assisted in carrying out daily activities.
