Abstract

Social studies education is very important for training communication skills in students up to college, because debate method training is an alternative for forcing students to communicate through pressure (pro-con opinions). This research aims to analyze the relationship between the use of the debate learning model and students' communication skills in MI/SD Basic Social Sciences learning. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with a Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. The results of the research are that the average result of the experimental class pretest is in the 0-54 interval, namely 53.53 and is in the very low criteria. Meanwhile, the control class pretest results were in the 0-54 interval, namely 47.30 and were in the very low criteria. The average results of the experimental class post-test were in the 65-79 interval, namely 65.43 and were in the medium criteria, while the control class post-test results were in the 0-54 interval, namely 50.53 and were in the very low criteria. . The probability value for the hypothesis test results, namely (2-tailed) is 0.000. Thus, Ha is accepted, Ho is rejected because 0.000<0.005, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the average score of the communication ability test in the experimental group and the control group.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of principals’ managerial competence and teacher compensation on the performance of non-civil servant (non-PNS) teachers in elementary schools in Natal Subdistrict, Mandailing Natal Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto design. The study was conducted in 25 public elementary schools, involving 98 non-PNS teachers as respondents. The sample was determined using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using multiple regression after passing classical assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity). The findings indicate that principals’ managerial competence has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Compensation also shows a positive and significant effect on performance. Simultaneously, both independent variables significantly predict teacher performance, with an adjusted R-square value of 0.370, indicating that managerial competence and compensation jointly explain 37% of the variance in non-PNS teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of animated video learning media using Toontastic application, integrated with the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model. The development focused on Civics Education (PPKn), specifically on the topic of individual characteristic diversity for fourth-grade students at MIS Darul Hikmah, Medan. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach utilizing the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Product feasibility was evaluated through expert validation and limited field trials. The results indicated that the developed media was categorized as "very feasible." This is evidenced by the material expert validation score of 86 and the media expert validation score of 86. Furthermore, field trials demonstrated high user acceptance, with teacher response reaching a feasibility rate of 85.71% and student response at 85.71%. These findings suggest that Toontastic-based animated video is an effective and appropriate instructional medium to enhance Civics Education learning at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study designs and tests the feasibility of a local history-based Social Studies (IPS) module on anti-colonial struggles in Aceh Besar Regency. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach, the module was developed through the Dick and Carey instructional design model adapted into a modified Borg and Gall procedure (problem identification, design-development, and dissemination). The study involved fifth-grade elementary students in Ingin Jaya Subdistrict, Aceh Besar, with trials conducted in four selected schools. Data were collected through expert validation (content, language, and presentation/design), practitioner assessments, student activity observation, and achievement tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques with percentage and rating-scale interpretation. The module achieved high feasibility, indicated by expert validation results of 86% (language), 88% (content), and 98% (presentation), while practitioner scores ranged from 86% to 97%. The overall feasibility mean was 90.14%, confirming that the module is valid and suitable for classroom implementation.
