Abstract

The drought conditions in Landak Regency are meteorological droughts caused by a decrease in rainfall intensity. This results in a need for more water supply to meet the community's clean water needs. To reduce the widespread impact of this drought disaster, this research aims to conduct a spatial study to provide information for making decisions in handling drought. The method used in this research is the Normalized Difference Drought Index (NDDI), which combines the values of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI). This research shows that Landak Regency is classified as moderately dry with a score range of 0.31-0.65 with a total area of 770,493.25 ha. Meanwhile, a high level of drought with a score of >1 covers an area of 17,881.11 ha. Districts with high levels of drought are concentrated in Ngabang and Mandor Districts. These two sub-districts are the centre of economic growth in Landak Regency, with the highest population density.

Abstract

Bagik Polak Village is located in Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency. Its area is 2.50 km2 with 7 sub-villages and a population of 4,232 people and a population density of 1,693 people/km2. Geographically, Bagik Polak is located at coordinates 8037'39" S 116007'57" E. Agricultural activities such as planting rice, corn, horticulture, and livestock, are mostly carried out by the community to meet the needs of life. However, in the last 10 years, there has been a change in the function of agricultural land to non-agricultural land. An increase in population causes this, the dynamics of development and industrial development, which require space, so it has implications for changes in land use. The purpose of this study is to analyze changes in rice crop production based on land use changes in Bagik Polak Village from 2012 to 2022. The method used in this study is the evaluative descriptive method. Data processing and analysis is carried out using ArcGis 10.8, while the stages include geometric correction, image interpretation, calculating the digitized area and field observation. The data used are Google Earth Pro satellite imagery data from 2012-2022 and rice crop production data from 2012-2022. The analysis results show that changes in the use of agricultural land into settlements and housing are the most significant changes. In 2012 the area of agricultural land was 189.51 Ha with rice production of 11.867813 quintals. However, in 2022, the area of agricultural land decreased to 168.32 Ha with rice production of 11.571725 quintals. The average rate of shrinkage of rice crop production is -0.854782108. The land conversion is the main factor causing the decline in rice crop production in Bagik Polak Village. A correlation was found between changes in agricultural land use and a decrease in rice production in Bagik Polak Village, where changes in land use were directly proportional to a decrease in rice production

Abstract

This research aims to calculate the estimated landfill capacity and the remaining operational life of the landfill on Gili Trawangan. The condition of the pile of rubbish in the landfill area, which is becoming increasingly mountainous day by day without any compaction and stockpiling process, has resulted in the operational lifespan being reduced over time. Limited land on small islands such as Gili Trawangan is a significant obstacle that must be considered with more intensive waste reduction efforts and integrated waste management. By knowing the remaining operational life based on the projected waste volume for the next 20 years and also the height of the waste pile at the Gili Trawangan TPA, it is hoped that it will be an early warning, especially for the Regional Government, the local community of Gili Trawangan and stakeholders related to waste management to take quick steps in managing the waste pile. The method used in this research is a descriptive, evaluative method starting with a geometric equation approach to calculate projections of waste generation, the carrying capacity of the landfill on Gili Trawangan and estimates of the remaining operational life. The results of this research are that the remaining operational life of the landfill is 3 years. It represents an alarming condition because it will contribute to the increasing vulnerability of small islands, especially Gili Trawangan, especially the decline in environmental conditions.
