Abstract

This study examines the impact of human resource practices, perceived organizational support, and Religiosity on employee happiness at work. Utilizing a quantitative research method, data were collected through surveys from 115 academic staff at Padang City (google form). The research instrument was tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and multiple linear regression for hypothesis testing (STATA). The findings reveal that effective human resource practices and perceived organizational support significantly enhance employee happiness, whereas Religiosity does not show a substantial effect. The implications suggest that organizations should focus on supportive HR practices and fostering organizational support to improve employee well-being. This research contributes to the understanding of factors influencing workplace happiness and offers practical insights for HR management in higher education institutions. Keywords: happiness at work, religiosity, perceived organizational support, human resources practices,

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in job creation, regional competitiveness, and economic equity. In the tourism sector, particularly in ecotourism and cultural tourism, clustering SMEs presents challenges due to complex and interrelated data variables. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of three clustering algorithms—K-Means, DBSCAN, and Hierarchical Clustering—in segmenting SMEs based on real-world tourism datasets. A purposive sampling method was applied to 203 valid respondents from SMEs in Rembang Regency, Central Java. Clustering performance was assessed using the Silhouette Coefficient and Davies-Bouldin Index, while computational efficiency and scalability were analyzed through execution time and memory usage. The results show that DBSCAN achieved the best clustering quality (Silhouette Coefficient: 0.5496, Davies-Bouldin Index: 0.3298), effectively managing noise and irregular cluster shapes. Hierarchical clustering offered moderate quality and helped reveal relationships between SMEs. In contrast, K-Means demonstrated the lowest quality (Silhouette Coefficient: 0.2321) due to its limitation in handling non-spherical clusters. For computational efficiency, Hierarchical Clustering required the least memory (0.14 MB) and shortest execution time (5.73 seconds), while K-Means took the longest time (26.00 seconds). DBSCAN consumed more memory due to density-based processing. K-Means was the most stable in scalability testing with increasing dataset sizes, whereas Hierarchical Clustering showed inefficiency. The findings support selecting appropriate clustering methods based on data complexity and size. This study enhances data-driven tourism development strategies and advances clustering methodology for applied informatics. Future work may explore hybrid clustering and predictive models for deeper insights.

Abstract

Abstract

Waste management poses a critical global challenge, particularly in developing countries. Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) offers a promising solution, necessitating holistic sustainability evaluations through Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA). Aim: This study aimed to conduct a systematic and bibliometric review mapping trends, analyzing methodologies, identifying barriers, and evaluating strategies concerning LCSA development in RDF life cycles within developing countries. Methodology and results: Employing a Bibliometric-Systematic Literature Review (B-SLR) using Scopus data (2011-2024) and analyzed via VOSviewer and qualitative content analysis, the study identified 22 relevant publications. Findings reveal a fluctuating yet growing publication trend with increasing citations, though international collaboration remains limited despite concentrated productivity. Methodologically, studies predominantly use LCA and LCC, with scarce S-LCA integration; key themes include environmental impacts, waste-to-energy (especially RDF in cement), and circular economy. Implementation faces significant technical, economic, social, and regulatory barriers. Proposed strategies emphasize crucial advancements in infrastructure, process optimization, stakeholder engagement, and robust regulatory frameworks. Conclusion, significance and impact study: The findings confirm that while scholarly interest in LCSA for RDF is increasing, its application is fragmented and hindered by persistent barriers. This research provides a crucial synthesis of evidence-based insights for policymakers and enriches academic understanding of LCSA in alternative waste management. Future work should prioritize developing integrated LCSA methodologies (especially for S-LCA), addressing critical data gaps, conducting holistic case studies, fostering international collaboration, and validating proposed strategies to accelerate sustainable RDF adoption and comprehensive waste management.
