Abstract

This investigation examined ways of improving management of welfare and security of human resources for sustainability of public colleges of education in South-East Nigeria. Two specific purposes and two null hypotheses were used to carry out the study. It adopted descriptive survey research design. The study involved a population of 486 senior administrators in the study area. All the 486 senior administrative officers were involved in the study; since it was of a manageable size there was no sampling in the study. A structured, 35-item questionnaire which was validated by three lecturers was used to collect data for the study. Cronbach Alpha reliability technique was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument; and it yielded reliability coefficients of 0.76 and 0.84 respectively for the two clusters. Data collection was carried out with the help of seven research assistants. From 486 copies of the questionnaire administered, 462 copies representing 95.1% were correctly answered and returned. The collected data were analyzed with mean and analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. From the data collected and analyzed, the study identified 16 ways of improving management of welfare and 19 ways of improving management job security of human resources for sustainability of public colleges of education in southeast Nigeria. The mean ratings of participants did not show any significant difference on ways of improving management of welfare and job security of human resources for sustainability of public colleges of education in southeast Nigeria. The study among others advanced that colleges of education’s management team should establish staff welfare and job security programmes that are helpful and appropriate to emerging trends in work places.

Abstract

In today's professional world, mastering both 21st-century skills and technical expertise is crucial for career success. Therefore, educators, especially in Digital Marketing, are urged to adopt progressive teaching methods to facilitate skill acquisition among students. With this goal in mind, we examined the impact of inquiry and evidence-based teaching on academic achievement, retention rates, and the development of 21st-century competencies in marketing students. Using the Solomon Four design, we divided 260 students into four intact classes and conducted pre-test and post-test evaluations. Statistical analyses employing MANOVA and ANCOVA revealed significant improvements in academic achievement, retention rates, and the cultivation of 21st-century competencies among students in the experimental groups compared to those in the control groups. The findings demonstrated substantial advancements in academic knowledge retention and the acquisition of 21st-century competencies among students in the experimental groups, particularly through inquiry and evidence-based pedagogies, which outperformed traditional lecture-based approaches. While differences between the inquiry and evidence-based cohorts were minimal, both significantly surpassed the performance of lecture-based instruction. Moreover, both inquiry and evidence-based approaches facilitated the development of critical, analytical, innovative, and collaborative skills among students. Notably, male students made greater progress in critical and analytical thinking, while females showed slightly stronger collaborative abilities. In conclusion, this study emphasized innovative pedagogies for effectiveness in boosting academic performance, retention, and 21st-century skills among marketing students. Gender and age minimally impact outcomes, emphasizing the superiority of inquiry and evidence-based methods over traditional lecture-based instruction in marketing education.

Abstract

The study determined the logical environment and supervisory regulatory frameworks for effective information management of public universities in Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population was 1580 Management staff. 432 respondents were proportionally sampled from each of the Public universities studied. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher. The questionnaire was face-validated by five experts. The reliability of the instrument was tested using Cronbach Alpha method and yielded an overall coefficient of 0.93. Mean and Analysis of Variance were used to analyze data collected. The findings showed that the management staff agreed to the 42 items measuring the logical environment and Supervisory regulatory actions for effective information management. The findings further showed that no significant difference existed among the opinions of the respondents on the level at which they adopted the logical environment security and supervisory regulatory actions for effective information management of their institutions. It was recommended among others, that the management of Public universities in Nigeria should enact and implement effective policies and laws that support the adoption of information regulatory actions.
