Abstract

Balinese gamelan music has its own aesthetic dimensions for the group of performers and listeners. However, it can be realized that achieving a beautiful aesthetic dish is not an easy matter. Especially for those who are new to, studying, or who do not own cultural products. This research tries to investigate further the concept of incep which is one of the references for the aesthetic value of Balinese gamelan offerings, especially Gong Kebyar. The aim is to find components that form concepts that can be used as guidelines in the art inheritance system and its performances. The author uses a qualitative research model, with a textual ethnomusicological approach and the working theory popularized by Rahayu Supanggah. Based on the research carried out, it can be seen that the concept of incep is related to the value of a dish which includes instrument blows that sound clear, precise and compact. The components that form the concept consist of ngatih, celang, and maketekan. These three components have sub-requisites to achieve the desired value. Because if it cannot be fulfilled then it is certain that there will be sounds that are less clean or uncomfortable to hear in the ear. On the other hand, if everything can be fulfilled, then surely the percussion performance can achieve the aesthetic value of the incep performance

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengungkapkan dikotomi antara musik diatonis dan pentatonis yang ada di Program Studi Angklung dan Musik Bambu Institut Seni Budaya Indonesia Bandung. Penelitian ini mencoba menemukan akar masalah pada mahasiswa dan untuk menemukan hubungan antara pengalaman dan minat mereka pada musik barat yang mendominasi pertunjukan dalam membuat karya ujian tugas akhir. Penelitian ini juga mencoba melihat masalah lain yang muncul seperti masalah sarana dan prasarana yang ada di Prodi Bambu. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data sebagai data lapangan, dan telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologis. Sesuai dengan prinsip metode kualitatif, penelitian ini akan memberikan data secara ilmiah. Pada realitanya, hanya sedikit dari mahasiswa yang tertarik pada musik tradisional untuk materi ujian tugas akhir. Berdasarkan penelitian ini, maka kita akan tahu bahwa faktor lingkungan mahasiswa sebelum mereka memasuki ISBI dan lingkungan setelah masuk ISBI akan menjadi faktor utama dalam memilih minat. Jenis musik pentatonik yang tidak akrab di telinga mereka, mata pelajaran tradisional yang selalu monoton dan membosankan, menjadi salah satu alasan mahasiswa untuk “menghindari” musik pentatonis. Konklusi penelitian ini menggaris bawahi bahwa penelitian ini bukan tentang materi mata kuliah, tetapi para dosen. Kritik utama adalah tentang kemampuan dosen musik tradisional dalam memberikan metode pembelajaran untuk memompa semangat para mahasiswa. Hal ini dikarenakan jaman sekarang berbeda dengan jaman dulu yang artinya musik itu harus dinamis berubah sesuai dengan perkembangan jaman. Diharapkan dengan metode yang tepat akan memenuhi tujuan kurikulum yang menguatkan kreativitas pengembangan seni tradisi. Kata kunci: Dominasi, Musik Diatonis, Lingkungan
